drilling a pickguard

Post by sp3k »

I ordered a humbucker for the bridge on my mustang, the routes are done. What's the easiest/cheapest way to dril the pickguard from single to humbucker?

Use another pickguard with a humbucker cut as a template and route it.

If you don't have a scroll saw or a table router, I'd use a coping saw... cheap

YOu can also use a double ended box cutter blade to shave the cut edge to nice finish. So if rough it out with a jig saw, you can get close to the line you want with low grit sandpaper on a block. Then shave to the line with the razor. YOu can even shave a nice bevel in pickguard material with the blades.

I got the router jigs from stew mack to do this. They are laser cut acrylic and are cheap.

Typically anything done by hand is going to looked hacked. What type of tools do you have available?
