Serious case of 'do want' for that Music Master, I'm not usually the biggest fan of yellow but OFFFFT.

kitt kat wrote:My '72 Musicmaster. I love this bass so much. However, I'm really protective of it and have been having reservations about gigging with it lately. I'm starting to worry constantly lugging it around town is taking its toll on the body/headstock since I'm kinda clumsy with it at times. I love the tone, though, and I really can't afford another MM right now...

Bad idea to gig with a vintage instrument? Or not?
You can take a baby hiking if that's what your family loves to do, but you're gonna take serious safety precautions, right?

I recently read an article in Vintage Guitar Magazine that addressed your question, Kitt. If you love your bass, here's what the musician-author recommended ya do to fully enjoy playin it:

It has to, has to be insured as a professional instrument. This is not the same policy as the one that covers my personal guitar that I use in my own home and take to my friend's house. Then when you gig, either your bass is in your hands or it's in its case. And that case never leaves your side. Finally, when you play gigs, you gotta be there as a pro and not to party; don't get high.

This may sound rigid, but hey, you can really enjoy your axe, if you're willin.

Sorry, you'll have to steal it from me. That one's my favorite. I got rid of the Jag, but I'll prolly ask to be buried with the MM.
