Dear Shortscale,
As those of you in the diary thread might have picked up I'm somewhat in the market for a cab. Ideally a marshall 1936 2x12 or in a dream world an orange 2x12. I want it to be second hand I don't want to spend much over £200.
Here is the thing it is slim pickings for 2x12s on ebay currently, nothing is doing locally and every second hand one I've seen in a guitar shop is only 50 or so quid cheaper than brand new.
But what I've spotted is this 4x12s are plentiful and sell second had on ebay for less than the 2x12s. For example one in London buy it now 200 and probably cost me 40-50 for a courier. I was sorely tempted the other day by a 2x12 that went for 230 +35 postage.
Question is this am I just being impatient and given enough time can I still snag a 2x12 in the £150-£230 range? Should I save up and spend £300/350 on a brand new marshall or orange. Or should I go all in a grab a 4x12? I've just about got space for it in the garage/studio and when the time comes (with hope) it will move to a rehearsal room....Though it will never cease to be a pain in the arse for gigs if and when I start doing them again......'spose I could just chop it in half and make 2 2x12s.
Which cab please?

I would advise patience. It's some years (7?) since I picked up a second 1936 for my rig but I only paid £100 for it and having kept half an eye on eBay since see them go for £100-150 every so often. You could be looking at up to six months of waiting though (especially for one local to you) so it depends if you need it urgently.
