pickup combo question

Post by dezb1 »

I have a rather nice blacktop Tele but have decided I don't like having a humbucker in the neck position (the sound or the look). So I though I'd do a bit of modding: anyone got any good bridge humbucker singlecoil neck pickup combinations (I know It's usually the other way round)

this thread is relavent to my interests as I have a bridge humbucker tele as well. I think what I am going to do is move the DiMarzio Bluesbucker (P90 voiced humbucker) to the neck position and put a GFS Pro Series Alnico V (neck pickup 7.6k winding) in the bridge position. I think the bluesbucker will work well in the neck position because P90s always sound great in the neck position.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

yeah, easiest would be a humbucker-sized p90. have you considered a wide-range, though?

Dual red is kind of an acquired taste, and honestly, I think the red is already hot enough, the last thing it needs is more power.

Blue Gold is infinitely more useful IMO.

Also, you ever consider these things?

that's a lot of modding to fit in the bridge of a non-deluxe telecaster.

Simple questions that need answering are:
What style music do you play?
What amp do you have?
Any particular sound you are going for?
Do you like hot pickups or not?
Otherwise could be suggesting all sorts of useless stuff all day long...

I really like dimazio right now, although i used to be a duncan guy. Since you're in europe you might as well check out bareknuckle pickups. I hear a lot of good things about those.

I have a regular Tele, and and liked the idea of having a humbuckered guitar for different tonez, the guitar has a great neck and is nice to play, I've just decided I don't like the look or sound of the neck bucker. so I thought rather than sell a guitar I like, just change the pickguard and the neck pickup. and thought some of you guys might have tried some combos that work before i rush out and buy something.

If you want to splash out the I would obviously go Bareknuckle and how about a P90 neck instead of single?
Suggest the Abraxas bridge and Mississippi Queen neck.

Edit - just saw the post above. If not P90 then The Boss neck.
