Champ - Les Paul Studio Trade

Post by mastermorya »

I've been looking for a small tube amp to use for recording and at home, not for shows. Was thinking along the lines of a silverface champ in terms of sound and price or, something like the Music Master Bass mentioned in another thread).

A guy is offering one for trade, and I told him about two guitars I'm thinking about liquidating--a 2000 MIM strat and an epiphone strat copy. I also told him I might think about an exchange involving my '89 Les Paul Studio. He's interested in the LP. It's black, and stock, except for the Grover tuners I put on it (a huge improvement). Has a few knicks in the paint but is in relatively good shape.

I'm honestly not sure what the LP would get if I were to sell it, nor what Bronco would go for. I'm inclined to think the LP is worth more, but that may be because it has some sentimental value to me as my first guitar. I'm increasingly bored with muddy-ass humbuckers, and I have an early 70's SG that has less hot pickups that I prefer. Anyway, whatever thoughts you might have about the Bronco, what its worth, and whether it is a fair trade for the Les Paul Studio, I'd love to hear. Thanks in advance.

Looks like silverface champs are going for $300-500
The LP Studio is probably worth a little more $700 at least, get him to throw in some cash.

Use ebay to look up street values for used equipment. Make sure to choose US ONLY and COMPLETED LISTINGS.

(keep in mind there are a ton of studios since the faded series etc, and the '89 will probably fetch a little more)

Thanks very much. I tried searching ebay on the bronco but got very little, should have searched for the champ, now that I looked and see it is the same. I was also looking for a sort of impressionist idea of whether this was a good deal. I really appreciate your help, sir. :)
