Anyone got any knowledge or opinions on this? I love how it looks like a piece of 1960s kitchen furniture, I think it might be solid bakelite.

Probably doesn't sound or play as good as it looks, but it's tempting ...

I'm not sure about this. I've had some real cheap looking old guitars that played awesome...as long as the necks are straight and solid, usually the only issue was harmonic pickups.

I'll bet that Framus is a real player.

The only thing that would worry me about the Klira is the dodgy looking bridge, and possibly the tuners/string tree, both of which are probably easy enough to replace if they're an issue.

I have an old Encore with the same bridge as that Klira, it seems perfectly stable to me.

It'd be expensive at half that price. However it's probably not bad. Quality-wise, Klira aren't up there with Framus, but they're better than the eastern-bloc guitars of that era.

Hugely over-priced IMO. They did make some better quality guitars, but that one looks like a bottom-of-the-range number. Sure it looks a bit quirky, but give yourself a good shake and think about all the other guitars £350'll buy you - ahem, Musicmaster - instead of that plank.

Wasn't actually considering buying this unless someone could tell me it was a definite winner but I'm planning a trip to Berlin for a guitar hunt. Seen some really nice Framus, Hofner and Hopf guitars recently but I need to have a go on some. Unless someone offers me a mustang or a Jazzmaster for a price I can't refuse.

Browsing ebay.de might be a better bet than actually going to Berlin. The one guitar shop I know that has stuff like this doesn't have very exciting examples and is proper overpriced. Trying before you buy is overrated, and you can always flip the thing if it's crap :D

Is it the music shop on Schoenhauser Allee? Kind of small and sells mostly guitars and old synths. I'm all over ebay.de but I keep missing auctions cos of work - missed out on a Hofner Galaxie the other day that went for about £350. I can't handle the constant disappointment

I'll keep on there though.

Sounds like you could use Auction Sniper.
