Traded up for a tiny little fella (Little Martin content)

Post by Sparky »

You might have seen my listing in the classifieds section about my SX Jazz Bass the other day, but it's gone now because . . .

I traded it towards a Little Martin! Only $130 out of pocket and it came with a heavy duty gig bag.

I just wanted to give you guys first dibs on the semi-rare bass. It was sexy looking, but I'm no bassist and besides, I have an octave pedal! :)

I walked into Guitar Center with the intention of making an even trade: the bass for a banjo, but as soon as I stepped inside it was immediate sensory overload. It'd been a while since I've been to the mecca of music.

After noodling around on all the fancy Fenders, a Wilshire, and plenty others, I made my way towards the cigar shop acoustic room to see a man about a banjo. There was a single Epiphone banjo in a glass case that was missing a bridge. It was used and the original owner lost the bridge, yet it was still listed for the same price as a new one. No thanks. But while I was in there, I decided to noodle about on the acoustics. I already have two acoustics: a 50s Framus archtop and a Washburn D-11, but as soon as I picked up the Little Martin I didn't want to leave without it.

I have short fingers, so this thing is perfect! Not to mention the action is fantastic! a barred F chord is just as easy as anything else - which is something the Washburn can't boast. I almost walked out with a Fender Sonoran, but this thing just sounded so much better. There are some composite materials on the guitar, but the tone of this is rich and balanced so no complaints.

I was thinking about installing a piezo, but I don't have any experience with that. Halp?

Nice,

I got a martin 000x1 last year which I have loved, but I was tempted both at the time and since by the little martin. If my musical life hadn't turned more or less totally electric I'm sure I'd have one by now.
