New affordable Gretsch. Corvette shape?

Post by ekwatts »

Not majorly familiar, but this was in the latest Guitarist mag and I found it while browsing lovely Gretsch guitars on Thomann. Looks nice, a bit different to the rest of the range, and three pickups? Always classy, if unwieldy and unnecessary in most cases.

It's one of a few newish Gretsch releases. Note the "Blacktop" (Why hello, Fender) Filtertrons on the Double Jet. 2 colors of Pro Jet for lefties, too.

kinda dig it, needs a bigsby though. always had a thing for those gretsch corvettes. heard they're heavy as all hell though, they dont really look heavy which makes me think that's a load of crap.

We have them here . They're kinda like a bare bones Stumpomatic . Chinese made . Quality can be iffy . They have the same pickups as a lot of the Electromatics . I played a black one . Frets were a little sharp but for the sound it was nice and jangly and didn't hum. Just the shitty fret work and a need of a setup were my only complaints .. Think they were like $400 here ?
