Multi Ohm input plate for a 2x12 cab

So I have 2 heads I use with my 2x12 cab - Orange RV50 that has 16 and 8 Ohm outputs, and Fender Bassman that is 4 Ohm.
The cab has 2x 8 Ohm speakers and so until now I have either had the cab wired as 16 Ohm (Series) for use with the Orange and then have rewired it to 4 Ohm (Parallel) when using the Bassman. This is fine, but prevents me from being able to switch quickly and is a bit of a pain at the end of the day.
So I found this clever little bit of kit: LINK
So now I can just plug into the different input and simple as that - can even use it as an 8 Ohm cab.
Haven't wired it in yet, but am looking forward to it. Not bad for 15 bucks!

Hmm, does this only work with 8 ohm speakers? I think the 212 I built has 16 ohm speakers, I'd love to have something like this in there though.

I wouldn't think Antique Elec. Supply would be cheap to order from in UK?
The crate 4x12 I've been using forever is switchable and can do all sorts of configs.

Looks like I'm going to have to jigsaw out 5mm around the current plate hole, but will be covered by the lip on the new plate so no big deal!

Afraid it does have to be 8 Ohm speakers if you want that exact combination Pens. If using 16 Ohm speakers imagine that would give you 8Ohm and 32Ohm mono, 16Ohm stereo.

It wasn't too bad, $25 with shipping, so under Â£20, and I couldn't find the equivalent locally.

i had done a similar thing with a serial input plug hanging out the back of one of my 1x12 cabs......
LOL

it took me from 16 ohm to 8 ohm

it's a very legit way of getting different tones and gain structures out of the amp, with the different loading.

yep.
that's why i love my boogie.

it's got (2) 8 ohm outputs, and a 4 ohm output.
manual said 'mix and match all you want, we got it protected, so it doesn't matter'

If you plug in just one into the 8 ohm, can you use just one of the 8 ohm speakers?

You have to plug an empty jack into the other side, then you can use it as 8ohm.

Interesting. Can you tell me what the construction is like? I'd have to really trust it, that's for sure.

I'm just worried what a switching plate might do if something ever went wrong.

I don't think construction is that big of an issue, I mean look at those Marshall piece of shit fucking recessed plastic bullshit things. I hate em, but everybody has that shit.

Installed it today, works like a charm. Looks solid as hell and really easy to fit once I'd jigsawed out the hole a bit.
Am chuffed.
