By the way, i use 11-48´s roundwounds at the moment and thought ´bout using flatwounds to get a lower action...

You'll probably find the answers in your other thread about string gauges on Jaguars as people have responded with type and brand as well. Either that or the thread that was the same question for MM/Duos/Stangs, I doubt it will vary that much.

I only use roundwounds on guitar and only flatwounds on bass. I have tried vice-versa for both applications and not been impressed.

flatwounds - they help stabilize the tremolo.

Roundwounds (I use 12-52s, with a wound 3rd string). Flats sound dead to me, and I don't like their playing feel very much.

My Jaguar came with flatwounds and I thought it sounded great until I switched to rounds. Never going back to flatwounds again.

I also tried flatwounds on a few of my guitars. I didn't like the feel at all. Feels like violin strings. I also found they sounded real dead.
I do prefer them on basses though.

Short scales need rounds to cut through IMO. I've been trying pure nickel strings lately, though. I like the decision so far.

Yeah, i also use since a long time pure nickels...Ernie Ball or lately 11-48's by Pyramid and they're half the price the Ernie Ball strings are and quite as good!!!!
