Mustang Set

Post by toez10 »

Here is a set of Mustang PUPs made for Serfx. Both pickups are scatterwound right around 5.11k with Alnico 5 magnets, RWRP, vinyl potted, and made with slightly taller bobbins, to allow for a taller, thinner coil.

Wound up a set of overwound Jazz Bass pickups for a bass player in Ypsilanti. I tried the bridge pickup out in my P/J bass, and it growled harder than the MIA Fender P bass pickup. It's really got me looking into doing some more bass pickups. There are a few sound samples in my sound cloud too. Anyone have any insights into what they look for in bass tone?

I like a strong humcancelled sound in a bass. Would you ever be interested in diversifying into split coil pickups of this sort?

Hey,

I'm actually working on a strat pickup with a very similar design that allows for coil splitting and a bunch of great sounding switching options. So, yes, I would definitely do a similar design for a bass.

Hey, I just posted a new video of some single coils I wound up pretty hot, and I will also be posting a video this week of my new strat pickup designs.
