Post by singlepup »

Just curious as to what others used. I've always used RW but was thinking to switch it up. Advice?

Advice: Give it a shot.

Worst comes to worse, you replace 'em with rounds. No big deal.

I used half-rounds on my mustang for a while. it sounded pretty cool. it gives the mustang a warmer sound which can be cool because usually mustangs are kind of thin.

I'm lately floating on pure nickel rounds. I don't have an opinion yet. I will soon.

I'm a fan of flats . Changes the tone of the guitars some though. Some like it , some don't .

Thanks, think I will give it a try... funny I never thought to do this before in nearly 20 years of playing.

And inasmuch as there's ever any concensus on these things, Thomastik Infelds(sp?) seem to be the clear winners, followed closely by Pyramid Golds.

Well, maybe I'll get it around to it first :) Of course, I majored in procrastination so on second thought

i use only roundwounds! flatwounds doesnt have the extra tones. if youre intreasted in playing the shadows & jazzy things flatwounds are for you. if you play rock, solos, metal, pop, blues then use roundwounds.

i also have been going from thinner strings to thicker.
