an interesting video

Post by dezb1 »

I was on another forum... you know the one where everyone goes on about Nels Cline all the time, any way I know fuck all about Mr Cline but this was an interesting video (I don’t think the young lass doing the interview would agree she looked bored as fook), he has some nice guitars n stuff...

Interesting indeed, thanks for sticking it up. I almost bought a Hopf the other day that looked just like his.

Great. Amazingly great. I've seen other interviews and read a lot of what he's written about his gear and he is incredibly knowledgable and humble.

When I saw the video was thirty-eight minutes long, I figured I'd watch a few minutes and get back to what I was doing -- but I sat through the whole thing without even a second thought. It's pretty much him just going on about his gear with almost zero interruption from the interviewer, which is fantastic. He's a true gear nerd.

I've read a lot of interviews with him over the years, including a GP cover story where they put his Jazzy as the cover guitar up in the header (a practice I wish they'd kept up with for their cover artists) but never read/remembered that he got it from Mike Watt, that's awesome.

I love his rosewood Bilt jazzy, reminds me of George's Let It Be tele.

It's a big old slab of wood without the contours though - looks a bit ungainly to me.

I'd like to be able to be all sneery about the video, but I think he's an interesting player and improviser who loves his (interesting and fun) gear.
