NGD - cheap classical guitar from work

Post by taylornutt »

Someone left this guitar in the workroom and the secretary told me to take it. Missing a D string. Looks cheap but it's free. Needs strings and a truss rod adjustment.

I doubt it'll have one !! same with all (?) Classicals.

Sand down the base of the bridge if you need to achieve a better action, and perhaps a lighter gauge set.

Man, i miss having a functional classical guitar. My first guitar was a cheap classical. I still have it, but the intonation's all mussed up. =[

It does have a truss rod and it needs to be adjusted. I need a set of classical strings. Any suggestions? I definitely with sand down the bridge saddle.

Thats odd, I've only ever come across a couple of nylon strung guitars that have truss rods.

Either way, free guitar is a free guitar.

I personally like D'Addario Pro Art Normal tension nylon strings on my classical.

Neck was bowed and the truss rod was super loose. Used allen wrench to tighten it up and flatten out the neck. I need to get some strings tomorrow and sand down the bridge saddle.
Plays better after adjusting the truss rod too.

Cleaned her up and put the new strings on. Never had a Nylon stringed guitar so that took a little getting accustomed to as far as tying the strings to the bridge. I have retuned the guitar about 100 times. the metal strings are stablizing but the nylon strings are continuing to stretch and go out of tune. Sounds pretty good though. Better than I expected. It's very small and shortscale I believe. If the tuning settles down, it's a nice little fun guitar.
