NPD: Keeley Compressor

Post by willlin »

Yesterday night I spotted a Gumtree ad locally for a Keeley Compressor, the guy was after a quick sale so wanted £60 for it.

I never normally go for compressors as it happens, but I thought I'd pick it up with the intention of trying it out and flipping it for a profit if we didn't get on...

Turns out, it's actually a bit of a revelation. Played cleaned with my strat through the Musicmaster sounds absolutely incredible. I think where I had been going wrong before was relying on it to give me that ultra squishy type sound, with the sustain maxed out. Where I think the Keeley excels is in the always on, 'set-and- forget' type territory, which provides a nice smoothness and makes cleans sound absolutely lovely. Maybe it's the honeymoon period still, but I'm actually taken aback by how nice it sounds.

I would thoroughly recommend it. As much as I bought it to sell on, I think it's a keeper.
