Actually I like mids, but from few samples I've heard guitar sounded maybe tad too brite for my taste...
Can bet it's mostly about amp... this guitar is destined to sound killer on Marshall vintage say JMP, JTM45 or something in that direction.
Maybe it's strings, maybe it's amp.... I can't tell but I got that impression... I think people should write their equipment so,,, can't care less whether it's some expensive or cheap equipment it's just for educational purposes anyway.
I like growl and deeper/powerful/fat chording sounds on humbucker guitars I always figured that's the reason why I should buy those in the first place

i'm curious what that jag will sound like with my setup.. it's already very middy and harsh with the bass 410, but i like the oomph from bass cabs so with the right settings on the amp you can even it out, for instance lots of bands whose sound i love use sg's..but i can't for the love of god get the fuck on with how thin they are and they just don't feel right..but the craving for hums again won.. and i've ordered the hb jag, it will be on its way soon. curious.

I'm pretty sure it'll sound fine on anything that makes a decent LP sound good on.
Which means my rig is hopeless. No LPs sound good on my equipment.

Well that didn't take long. Sorry for blurry pictures.
Notice the lack of any signature anywhere.
Early reviews: This is easily the best Mustang I've ever had. Neck is more reminiscent of '65 than '69 or '73 RI, might be a bit thicker than a '65 RI, not as thick as a Jaguar HH Special but not paper thin like a '69/73 neck. I don't have a '65 with me to compare, so I am going by memory here. Either way, it has a great feel.
Pickguard is slightly aged. Action arrived perfect from Fender, it's so low, JB sounds amazing as you might expect. I didn't think I'd like the JB but on this guitar, it just works. I might change the neck pickup to an Antiquity, but it's actually quite OK already, and I don't know how much I'll use it on this guitar, honestly. The switches are a bit weird, though, the bridge switch doesn't switch phase, it just goes On-Off-On, but whatever, like that matters. Don't know how I feel about recessed switches, I might unrecess them (looks like they're held down by foam).
Tuning is not quite as stable as a rocking Mustang bridge when using the whammy (you have to return the whammy to center yourself, but I have to do that on most Fenders), but when not using, the feel is decidedly superior with the Tune-O-Matic bridge. I decided to get the Mastery Bridge a couple of days back so when that arrives, I'll be able to give the pros and cons of all three bridge options. That said, when I have some real time with this thing and get the thing lubed up, we'll see.
Sounds amazing. I was ripping Iron Maiden riffs. Aw yeah.
