whaaaaaw...love it !!
i think this really is a cool fender sig series...interesting specs..not because it's teh kurdtz but i can imagine many players would be interested in those modifications really. and the demand for stangs, jags, and affordable ..really nice.
what i notice...
this stang says 'made in japan' which isn't true ? if so it would be 'crafter in japan' but these are 'made in mexico' no ? was the kurdtz's one a made in japan one or a 70's us one ? i don't even know.
the jags are made in mexico..i figured the stangs were too ?
anyway..do an demo or so ?

Yeah, I've been noticing that newer Mustangs are back to "Made in Japan," which means they're back to Fuji Gen instead of Dyna Gakki. The Kurt Cobain guitar that he played on "Teen Spirit" was a stock Competition Mustang, I believe, and it had a matching headstock. This is more modeled after the 90s Japanese Mustangs he used to play on tour.kim wrote:whaaaaaw...love it !!

I agree with you that I think these are just interesting instruments with very compelling modifications. There's nothing inherently Nirvana about changing the bridge and pickup on a Mustang or a Jaguar, they're just mods that people have been doing to other Fenders and a matter of taste. I mean how many people float around with Hot Rails or Lil' 59s in their Mustangs around here? The Tune-O-Matic is a more dramatic change but I think it's safe to say someone who would want an SD or a JB in their guitar would also appreciate a Tune-O-Matic.

I actually think it's ever so slightly less tinted than my '73 or '65s I've had. It's still very much tinted and glossy, though. No worries about that. It's a very beautiful color nonetheless.kim wrote:the finnish on those sig stang necks is typically fender japan glossiness/darker.
Also, I thought it was just the picture but looking at my guitars side to side, the shapes do look slightly different.
The KC looks a bit sleeker, the '73 is a bit fatter on the upper bout. It's barely noticeable and might just be that the white looks bigger than blue, but I do think the shapes are actually slightly different. I prefer the '69 shape, though the '73 is certainly fine.
Really, this could easily be the honeymoon period, I know, but out of my eight Fender short scale guitars (5 Mustangs, 3 Jaguars) I've had the pleasure of owning, I think this is the finest guitar yet.

uh... I think you may be staring at the picture a little too long. there is nothing in that picture that suggests to me that they are different shapes. you could take a picture of the exact same model guitar sitting next to each other as in that picture and notice itty-bitty differences similar to what you are remarking on.
compare a vintage mid-60s and late-70s mustang if you want to see real differences in shape.
