Is there a problem with it being parts guitar? I simply refer to it as a 1978 Musicmaster because that is the year the body was made. The neck is from a 1972 Musicmaster. I am not trying to insinuate that it's original.stewart wrote:it's a parts guitar.hotrodperlmutter wrote:yeah the strings are from like 2008

when it isn't?taylornutt wrote:Did Fender make a tone of Musicmasters in 1978? It seems that every Musicmaster I see lately is from 1978.
Even mine.
Hey Mark, welcome. LOVE your guitar. I am the proud owner of a beat to hell '76 MM.
My vote is to leave it black on black, without question. I think red tort would look too flashy.
Most everyone here will agree that there is a lot of variety when it comes to late '70s Fender. My MM is extremely light, but I have played a '79 strat that felt nearly as heavy as a Les Paul.
Fender gear from '78 does seem to be in high circulation... my MM bass is a '78. Too bad I'm a '79, just a bit younger than you guys (gypsy & joey).
