Post by kim »

but since i got my head out of the 'lack of gear cravings' pile of mud..i found orange rocker 30 has been discontinued, like..over a year ago ??

hmmm...this makes me a bit sad... it's so underrated..

They released the Thunder30 to supposedly replace it, but I don't get it. Not a big fan of the Thunder, find it too fizzy, same as the Dark Terror. The Rocker series is definitely my favourite.

yeah that thunder 30..i like the wattage switching..it's a nice feature, but heard about the sound leaning more towards metalz, kinda harsh and mid cut but haven't tried yet. also they have EL84, the rocker has EL34...and also isn't made in orange uk. it's a more mid heavy amp and the no nonsense clean channel with no controls may sound frightening but it's fantastic, it takes pedals so well and the clean works so well with that when using pedals for dirtn next to the dirty channel.

I heard a Rocker 30 (12" combo) next to a TT combo and the difference was pretty massive - the Rocker's sound was bigger and more open, sounded more present and natural. Would go for one if I was getting a head.

Love mine. Although even after having it for over a year, I haven't quite nailed the sound with it yet. Find it varies a lot each time I use it. Seems to work looooads better with my Tele than it does with my 335. I've realised that it doesn't seem to take humbuckers very well until you properly crank the drive channel. Sounds amazing with my Tele though.
