Fender Mustang I+II Question

Post by brandon. »

I grabbed one of these little amps a couple weeks ago and I'm totally floored by it. It's blown away my previous home-jam set up. I really enjoy the bassman setting.

My question, to those of you who have played those amps:
How close does it sound to the actual bassman? does it pull off the other settings well too?

I really enjoy the amp and recommend it to anyone thinking about buying one.

I'm sure a Bassman going through a very small compact cabinet sounds nothing like a Bassman going through a big fucking cab either.

Touché.

Similarly, the Twin Reverb settings sound good, but don't really sound like my actual Twin... But then, a closed back 8" can't be expected to sound anything like an open 212. That said, for $100 and like 10lbs, it sound fuckin' close enough.

I find the British 60s (AC30) settings a little muddy, but rather like the Deluxe and Bassman settings. The others aren't sounds I'd normally look for in general, so I can't really comment.

So use the software to replace them with the Princeton, DRRI and Champ models. Far better.

Forgot about those. I was having issues getting my new MBP to recognize the amp when I bought the new Mac in the spring, and have since kinda forgotten about the interfacing. I'll have to give it another go when I get back to Canada.

I did really like the Champ settings when I'd connected with my old MacBook.

Haven't tried those settings yet though.
Are those mentioned above the best sounding so far? any other gems?

I love mine. The Fuse software really opens up how tweakable this thing is.

Hmmmm there is a Mustang 1 amp on the ebays with a buy it now for £50 with local pickup. Mind means i'll have to get a train to pick it up
I've been thinking of actually getting a guitar amp instead of using my bass amp and i do like the looks/sounds of it.
Plus if you dudes dig it should be gravy
Might let the auction run and try and snag it on the super cheap

Oh just re-read the listing. The USB port is broken, well that blows and rules the FUSE software out
