blackstar HT1
yes i'm too lazy to search, sorry.
so anyway, what's the verdict on these amps ?
as my room practice amp died (long long ago) i now only have a 30 watt valve amp and a 100 wat solid state amp..neither are suited for late night recording. if i don't want to my neighbors to kill me.
i've always liked the tiny terror, classic sparkle in the cleans, easy to move about, the head is affordable and yeah now this
while i am looking for a small room amp..i thought..i'd be nice to have a spare 12" speaker cab i can occasionally combine with my 30w head too (if i don't want to break my back moving stuff around for practice)
so..
i came across the blackstar ht1
it's only 1w but valve..and i really do think a tiny terror in 7w setting might be too much too..;another feature that would make me prefer the blackstar over the tt is this : emulated line out.
yeah i know line out usage is a bit 'tame' but ...for recording random things at 3am at night..it would be fantastic.
the tiny terror doesn't have it.
the ht1 also comes in a combo..which would be cheaper..but ..i'd like to have a 12" speaker cab..so i'm thinking the head version.
when i have some time off work i'm going to try and find it at a guitar shop and try it, but in the meantime i'd like to hear from some of you who have tried it and tell me if it would be suited for what i need it to do:
-be able to crank it while staying at room volume
-be able to give enough clean at a decent volume
-have a line out that sounds alright/comparable to the speakered sound, so i can connected it to my laptop and record songs at ungodly hours
and as for cab...well, depends how much i can get the top for (not sure if i'd 'need' the reverb option ..from what i've heard the reverb doesn't sound like the type of reverb i prefer)
so cab..€200/300..for space issues a single 12"..though i'd rather invest in a 212 as i might take it with me to practice too occasionally but space limits don't allow..

I had a HT-1R combo a while back.Got it to play at home with headphones.I really liked the tone knob (ISF Infinite Shape). But i returned it because there´s no amp that sounds with headphones as good as my lovely Yamaha combo from the late 70´s or early 80´s....

line6 pod. ya know that red thing with 30 knobs on it. they come out with a new one like every year.
I got the behringer copy for around 100. bucks a couple years ago. I'm sure you can get one used now for like 50.
not sure how much the ehx pedal amp costs prob 100-150
spend the good money on a good cab. that you will use for a long time. all the amp parts are what will change over time and are more disposable

85 bucks brand new for a VAMP2. i think the VAMP3 is around 20 bucks more. the new one has usb and all that shit that i don't need/want.

then for the amp.
100 bucks

150 bucks

so pick one of those.
with those 2 things you have unlimited amount of sounds n shit for under 200 bucks.
then add this for another 150 and you got a whole bedroom rig for like 300 bucks

or go all out with the new fender bassman neo 8x10 that i have no idea how much it costs yet

Re: blackstar HT1
totally would be able to crank at room volume, it should be roughly about 1/2 as loud as a TT on 7w if u ran them thru the same cabkim wrote: -be able to crank it while staying at room volume

the clean at a decent volume will more than likely be a problem
Rob's suggestion is great... just comes down to whether ur a toobz snob or not......

yeah i love that little rocker amp..god i do.
but i don't have room for it upstairs, so it sits downstairs for all the evil.
that's why i need something a bit smaller for upstairs, those ht1 combos are around €200/300 which is a decent price for an all valve amp with the features i need.
i could run the combo into another cab though..so instead of spending double on the head+cab the combo seems a nice option.
rob, i like your suggestions but it's really not what i'm after, i guess i'm a snob, i like teh valves...nothing like it..when they heat up oh the goodness they can produce. not gonna lie, i really love that. if that makes me a toob snob i don't care, it's just what i like in sound.
it will be different from the rocker, i love the combination of valves in that amp..glassy cleans and the dirt sits somewhere between biting marshall crunch and darker sounding laney..just love its sound. i'm not going to get that out of the ht but i can't possibly get my workhorse amp into the small room upstairs. i'm not mary poppins.
anyway, thx for the suggestions, i think i may have already made my mind up.
