Dano 63 / Dano Pro anyone?

Post by gypsyseven »

I'm considering getting one of these:

http://www.thomann.de/de/danelectro_dano_63_aqua.htm

http://www.thomann.de/de/danelectro_de_ ... o_aqua.htm

Anyone played one of these?

Worth a try?

Great guitars, BUT.

During the 2008 elections in the USA the owner of Danelectro donated money towards the Proposition 8 campaign, a statute that effectively banned gay marriage in California, so shortscalers aren't happy about the purchase of Dano equipment brand new, effectively handing money over to an organisation that actively pursues the oppression and discrimination of homosexuals.

I own a fair bit of Dano stuff but from now on all my Dano purchases will be second-hand or not at all.

have a 63 and it’s a great sounding and playing guitar I use it a lot for recording. I wouldn’t use it in a live situation as it’s pretty small and looks ridiculous when I hang it on a strap.

speak for yourself, friend. If you want to buy from an organization that is against gay marriage, that is your own business and I'm certainly not going to get upset if someone on the board buys a new dano.

that said, I wouldn't buy from them new.

My brother has a 56 u2 RI and I have a 56 u2 pro. Both are great. I really like the necks. The pro has hotter pups and black neck.

The Pro got voted the best sub-£200 guitar in one of the guitar magazines. Apparently, endless fun and superb tone.
Gotta admit, it does sound well here..
