Classic Player Jaguar HH....

Post by gypsyseven »

I could get a used CP Jaguar HH for a good price, but i'm not sure if it's any better or more versatile or whatever than my CP Jaguar with singlecoils...
I'm just pretty amazed by the look of a white Jaguar...
What do you(Classic Player Jag owners) prefer?
Singlecoils or those humbuckers?

You can always drop in a pair of GFS Dream 90's and get some single coil love out of it.

stick to what you have unless money is no matter ... pretty useless to buy the same guitar again just for different pickups.

I like the flexibility of the HH Jag, but I personally prefer a real single coild sound - though the blending between split and non split hb is a nice feature.

Aye, a split humbucker just doesn't sound like a single coil. I am kind of interested to play with the variable split, but, at the same time, I'd probably be happier with my standard Jag and a Kurdtz proper 'bucker model.

the humbucker has more power. a single coil cant do heavy stuff. therefore i like humbuckers mixed with single coils for cleans and heavy!

I would imagine people who prefer humbuckers to single coils will prefer those humbuckers to single coils.
Not sure how they're telling you that would help you very much. Do YOU prefer humbuckers, or single coils?

I have one of the white Jag HHs, and I really like it. However, since you already have a CP Jag, I'd only advocate this purchase if you want a white jag AND you're looking for a humbucker guitar.

The stock pickups are pretty good when run as humbuckers or with a bit of the blend, but are not that satisfying when completely split. But it should also be noted that if the price is right, you can always find other tones and better splitting by swapping out the pickups.

+1.

If I was using my jag for anything loud, it was always neck pickup. Bridge was far too thin and had too much high end. I installed a little 59' and it has seriously been a breath of fresh air. My guitar now has the balls to make the bridge setting useful (to me) while keeping the classic jag "twang", but I also get to keep my neck pickup. Both together sound fliiiiiiiipppin' amazing aswell.
