mustang rebuild

I was searching through ebay last month and came across this beat up 70s mustang body. There was a best offer option, so I through in a number, and when I came back home later I found that the seller
accepted my offer (came to $205 with shipping, although I had to pay an extra $30 for import tax). It had a big ugly route in the middle, but I fixed it with a new block. I've also picked up a Pat Pend. vibrato,
and a repro pearloid guard is on the way. Here's how it looks as of now:

It reminds me of my Mullet-stang. Sunburst Mustangs are cool! I am anxious to see the finished guitar.

yeah, I definitely have some inspiration from the mullet stang build. I was a little worried that I would end up with a boat anchor, but luckily it's quite light.

Ash can be extremely light or heavy from board to board. The Mullet-stang is not as light as my Ash Telecaster, but is heavier than my Comp-stang RI that is made of Basswood. The guitar stock I received from my Brother-in-law's lumber mill is selected based on weight so it's all very light.

I haven't been actively searching for a neck right now, since I'm focusing on getting everything else before hand. After I get a few more packages in the mail I'll post an updated picture.

got some more parts:

Control plate is 60's (I wasn't sure if a mij plate would match with the existing holes), pickguard and bridge are new. The neck is from a '75 Music Master. The finish
on the back of the neck is like new, which isn't really my preference but it still feels nice. All that's left is a neck pickup and electronics.

Is the neck really chunky? My 1972 Musicmaster neck is really chunky and has zero original finish on the back of the neck. My neck also has the "Torres" stamped on it.

I love the pearloid pickguard. I have one on my CAR Compstang but went with a white on my black/sunburst Mustang. Kinda wish I had pearloid on both.

the neck isn't chunky at all, which is good cause I feel comfortable with thin necks. I think pearloid is one of the those things that should only be used in certain instances. On sunburst stangs I think
it looks great, but I would never use one on a JM/Jag. I think that by '74/'75 sunburst stangs came stock with white guards though.
