This thing is 100% comfort, man. Smooth and gloss everywhere. I WAS going to stick with metallic black but I can tell you were in love with the white so I kind of went with a sort of metallic white/Pearl. The camera is zoomed for the sake of the sparkles. The pearl is actually very shimmery and far from any offensive sparkle. Its almost mint in dark areas but in bright light its like ice packed snow. It really is a beautiful finish and I'm glad I went with it.

I'm testifying to the finish- I saw that shit and my jaw dropped. It's seriously one of the most gorgeous paint jobs evar, such a beautiful color, glossy and smooth, and it almost does look like sparkle mint.

Ferrules are notoriously hard to drill.
I don't see why. Mark the drill with electrical tape to just more than half the body depth. Measure and mark each side, drill from each side to meet in the middle. Any wonkiness is hidden away and its straight both sides.

Trying to drill straight through without using a drill press is just asking for trouble.

I echo this point. ;)

I keep checking this thread despite the lack of replies (and well deserved kudos to Sublimedo for his praiseworthy work) just to lust over those pictures. I can't get over how one day I will be able to play that guitar, I am so lucky. When that thing has a neck and is otherwise complete, it's going to be unstoppable.

Did someone say they could do decals? Because I would love to have a '70s style "Fender Malikaster (or is it Malikcaster?) decal just so nobody can possibly pass it off for a Telecaster or a Jaguar through ignorance and they have to ask me about it I can be reminded to tell them of the excellence of Shortscale.org that made the guitar possible. :D

The comparison shots have confirmed it. I need to buy this paint. This sort of white with a touch of silver is something I'm going to be looking for soon.

Where did you get it? What name? If it's a car colour that's going to make it a lot easier to find.

Toyota/Lexus Crystal White 062

But I also used Reranch Olympic White as a basecoat for that specific hue.

I'm probably going to end up limited by the selection at Halfords but I'll keep this one in mind. Cheers.
