your craftsmanship and attention to detail makes this turd shine!
you really did a magnificent job with the contour, and the routes look splendid! though not my cup o' tea (as they say across the pond, charmingly linguistical chaps they are), i can see your blood, sweat, & tears have gone into manifesting your vision with the utmost precision. i can't wait to see the finished product!

Nice one, instead of saying something about the amount of hard work going into this even though it's not your thing, you call it a turd.
Smooth.

oooooooh, now everyone's a bit sensitive. i guess i could've chosen more descriptive words like 'awkward,' or 'heinous,' or even 'unsvelt.' but i didn't. i expressed my opinion in a rare subtle way not often seen on such a forum of class.
sorry. T E H O. it's great. as long as you feel comfortable playing it, that's fine. i don't care. i mainly was commenting on the execution and fine workmanship, but you're right, i should've just kept my opinion to myself. like everyone has a real easy time doing 'round here.

You can easily express your opinion without using words like turd. I'm personally not too hot on the shape too but you can definately appreciate the deisgn and actuall building work that has gone into this, it's not my sort of things but its far from a fucking "turd".
This forum is the most opinionated forum I've ever been to but we know the limits. You won't find posts ending in billions of emoticons here, we say what we think, within reason.
Here is an example of the above:
You are an idiot.

1. "Unsvelt" is not a word. Do you mean unsvelte? That's not a word either. It's a corruption of a word.
In fact, if you understood even what 'Svelte" itself meant, then you'd appreciate that the body shape actually is pretty much the definition of Svelte.
You're clearly neither a linguist or an Aesthete, you're just a cretin.
2. It was not subtle, and backhanded insults to this community will not make you popular. If you don't like it here, it's easy enough for you to Jog On.

Of course he feels comfortable playing it, it's a Custom build he has commissioned with Robert.
Again with the forum diss. You know where the door is, kindly get tae fuck if you're going to bring this confused Rhetoric to the table, it really is hamfisted and painful to read.

Oh I see
As the proud owner of an Epiphone "Goth" Les Paul, you really are operating on a different visceral plane to the rest of us mortals.

oh jesus fucking christ. never did i pretend to operate on a different plane, but clearly there's a pattern of "do as i say, not as i do" running rampant on the forums. and now with grammar patrol on the loose, when will it end?
i didn't consider the insult to be backhanded, i considered it to be run-of-the-mill, and fairly tame by ss standards. it's all fun and games till someone you don't know shares an opinion, which now that it's in the open, i do appreciate the work that went into it, i just think it's ugly. I WILL NO LONGER SAY WHETHER OR NOT SOME AESTHETIC OF WHATEVER IS POSTED HERE AGREES WITH MY EYES OR NOT.
seriously, what's it going to take? yeah, i own a "goth" les paul. it plays awesome, and looks like a les paul in flat black. and i got it for cheap. it's an example of timeless design. this is not, and because i see it is that, i thought a harmless comment would be seen as nothing more - clearly i underestimated everyone's quickness to panty-bunching.
an apology? paypal everyone for their time i wasted by saying that awful t word? "Jog on" to never return? clearly this is only the place to express your opinion if it's deemed acceptable.
Mike wrote:You're clearly neither a linguist or an Aesthete, you're just a cretin.
dude, fuck off. i wasn't even talking to you, or pushing some holier-than-thou bullshit. i see my 'corruption' of one word, and my lack of enthusiasm for a body design has given you some sort of insight into who i am. didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. that time of the month?

Says the man who wrote a sodding essay to try and justify being a cunt. If you are a cunt, you will be called on it. These things are not mutually exclusive. Understand that if you talk crap on this forum, you will not be popular; it happens to be a damn fine ship. You dropped into a project thread and made a dumb remark, you got called on it and started crying baby tears of sadness. Grow a Pair. If you want to act like a prick, you have to expect a reaction. Which you got, from a few posters before I turned up.
Are we all wrong?
This thread is a progress thread for James' project, with work carried out by our very own Robert(original), Luthier to the stars. You can be as much of a twat as you want to be in this thread, but you're going to ruffle feathers. Now stop crying because you made yourself look like a muppet.

I'm not that bothered really. Obviously I like the body shape as I've asked somebody to build it. The fact you don't like it is here nor there.
You can say you're acting in line with the forum but I can't think of a single regular poster who would have made that comment. This is a clearly a discussion forum where people are encouraged to post honest opinions without the worry of dictator-like repercussions. But it's also a forum where people are enouraged to show tact - and that is where you were out of line with the forum etiquette.

Of course. People can say what they want - but justifiably I bristle when people suggest that this behaviour is the "shortscale way". It fucking is not.

Choir Of Angels shot much?

wow. a cunt. alright.
look dude, i'm sorry, but of all the shit i've read (which has been a lot of shit, before i posted ANYTHING), i certainly thought calling this guitar (which follows convention of being 'ugly' from my understanding) a turd would be seen as an opinion, compared to all the other ragging back and forth i've seen. i get it, mike, you're the know-it-all kid. got it. fine.
30,000 posts ought to have refined your douche-baggery a little more than petty personal jabs. i'm not trying to justify 'being a cunt,' i am merely defending myself that clearly i overstepped the boundary. and now you've really shown how touchy you can be. noted, cunt.
James: sorry i called your guitar ugly. really. fantastic job. didn't mean to hijack the thread. didn't mean to forget my tact. didn't mean to step out of line, the borders were blurred a bit. but now that everyone has so expertly whipped me back into shape, i see them clearly.

As long as you've finally realised you're completely wrong and I'm completely right, we'll get along famously.
Take some time.. you'll get there in the end, everyone does.

It's been a while since I started the thread, and without going back to check, I think when I first posted it I said it's a 'not for everyone' guitar. It's not a big deal really. It seems natural to those of us who have been posting in this community since before shortscale was started, but there can be a fairly fine line between being open with your opinions and what the majority will not stand for. It was poor form but don't take it too seriously and don't let it shape your decision to stick around.
Anyway, back to more important matters. I have a dilema to do with the paint colour. I'll spend a few minutes with photoshop and post back the results for opinions. I'm not going to bother with a poll because I'd rather hear some truthful comments than see some abstract numbers.
