That's actually not too far off from what the Windsor sounds like IRL. The one I tried didn't do cleans PERIOD - not even at 1 on the pre and post. I had a St. Blues Tele plugged into the low input (neck PUP with the tone rolled back) and I had to dial the treble back to 2 or 3 on the amp. It was still pretty brash when digging in.

It's really just a shit amp.

That JCM is lovely, Mike. I'm actually warming up to Marshall-style amps for cleans of all things.

Mike's JVM has digital reverb.

Doesnae use it though.
I sold the JVM, boyo.

Plus my comments in the shop were directed towards them making an Old School Marshall again and then - BAM - digital reverb. They're all that purple colour guys...

what could i do? as i'd need to either sell or part ex my tweed plus get a cab for it. I'm very much a combo kinda person.
They only come in that colour, Vintage/Moderns.

I like the colour of the VMs. A bit different, but not gaudy or offensive.

yeah, they look a lot more classy and muted in real life, that's a flash photo bear in mind - does it no favours.

must have been the one i saw wasn't as bright. i need that V/M.

i'm doing a month of nights soon, so i shall hopefully have a bit of spare monies for such an amp without selling the tweed.

i could have a two setup, fender for cleans and marshall for mantones.

Do it. With one cab, use head switcher pedal from Radial. Sell kidney to buy it.

what kidneys? i've sold them a million times over. i thought they would re-generate like livers

Nope.

Combo & Head and Cab and use Morley A/B switcher for cheaps to switch between them.

i used to use my tuner or a stereo out pedal to power my vox and marshall together. the hum was terrible, due to phase/ground loop/cock rock posing.

I think I have about three options for spliting signal. I would probably use the sho.

Even on the Peavey official demo here he has to take the Preamp to 3 on the LOW input, Master up to 6 and THEN back his guitar to halfway to get any form of clean out of it, and it's incredibly quiet.

You basically can't do what I was doing with my amp last night and get a clean sound by backing off the volume, not to mention the low input of my amp is a great clean amp in it's own right, and loves pedals.
El Stupido Peavey..

Does the Marshall get any cleaner if you dime the master and use the preamp dial as a volume?
