(i'm not saying this to be bitchy sorry if it comes off that way)
I already said he can do what he wants.

And please explain your last paragraph.

Narco Martenot wrote:No, I have no difficulty getting dressed. I work with high-end clothing daily, so I mix colours and patterns everyday. I see a lot of people who are getting into clothing who seem like they have no idea what they are doing and want help, but this is pretty extreme. I say this because the way you mix and match clothing is fairly universal and applies to just about any type of design involving a colour scheme and a pattern (which is everything, ever, I guess).

hahahahahahahahahaha!

so because you work at banana republic at your local mall you're qualified to tell everyone that their color choices for their guitars are wrong based on "COLOR THEORY?" color theory sounds like what the scientoligists call their reasonings for your PK levels or whatever the fuck being all off...

this is a guitar site. not a fashion site.

Once again, I'd like to point out that we were asked for our responses. Can we please stop the hate in '08?

that's really not called for.
as i said above colour theory is very real and very important in design, do some reading.

anyway, in the end it's just some plastic being stuck onto some wood and we all (me included) need to lighten up a bit. colours are colours, no matter what we're told there's gonna be some nutter out there who'll put green pearl on a black guitar and think it looks brilliant and if it's what he wants then all the more power to him.

...still should be black paisely though.

Haha, not quite. I'm speaking of things a little (a lot) higher quality than anything sold at Banana Republic (or most malls, for that matter).

And mixing patterns and colours is universal -- it applies to just about everything. Clothing is probably the easiest place to start, though.

it's fucking FASCINATING and it means everything to me when i go through life.

"oh gee, i can't drive even though the light is green because the box the light is in is black and green and black don't go together according to the Pyfagorean Theory of Color."

i equate it to the shit-sticks that tell me deam theater is better than the beatles because of all the "music theory" that dream theater knows and incorporates into their music. theory is all fine and dandy...but art is about soul.

All I have to add to this is...

LOL

Edit: on second thought I have this to add as well... How can I not put a perloid green pick guard on Frank after blazing inferno of a thread it's incited. I'd be letting you all down. lol.

And I'm still saying no to the paisley... though it is very tempting.

i'm agreeing with you. i don't make things based on music theory in the same way i don't make things based on colour theory. you can't deny that colour theory is everywhere, it's used alot more than you realise. in adveritisements, magazines, all over TV, all over the media in general really.

colour theory applies to your traffic lights though. red is a very strong colour and it'll take over colours around it, good choice for a warning sign.

but sorry, next time i feel like learning about something that might not apply to my day to day life i'll just shut my eyes and hum loudly until the thought goes away.

I think whether or not one should follow music theory or colour theory are two completely different things.

Putting colour theory aside; maybe look at it as "is this being tastefully done or not?", because you have to draw the line at some point. That applies to anything.

It's kind of like "well, I've completely lost my balls and I love Coldplay, I might as well download a Michael W. Smith discography."

But in the end, it's up to the individual whether or not they want a white trash guitar or not.

:D

Just like it's up to the individual to decide if they wish to present themselves as a pretentious twat.

In a sophomoric sense yes, this is the internet after all.

color theory should be used as a guideline, not a rule book.
'specially since this is a case of 1 guitar, not a mass manufacturing hoping to be marketable to millions.

first to reecephod:

dude. i hear you. seriously. we're on the same wavelength here absolutely. i'm not saying color theory is pretentious when applied appropriately. but seriously, twatman mcgee coming and saying dudeguy shouldn't put a pg on his guitar because of color theory is whack. and it comes over as so pretentious it makes me sick. i'd accept "I think it's ugly" before "You're a moron because you're not applying the most important thing ever about color" blah blah blah.

now to narco:

who in the fuck elected you as judge and executioner of crimes of taste? isn't taste subjective? it obviously is because look at your guitar that looks like someone rubbed an aborted fetus all over it. is that what this about? all the shit you've taken over your guitar, which is honestly the ugliest thing ever posted here that NoHo didn't create? are you trying to lash out?

fuck off dude. seriously.

color theory my taint.
