also, i think a good litmus test is to ask yourself, "hmm, would i use the word faggot in a room full of gay people i didn't know?", or nigger in front of black people, or whatever. that's a good place to start. and chances are you wouldn't.

this is why i find the whole "haha, i said faggot/nigger on the internet" so embarrassing and cowardly. it completely removes the consequences and lets you hide behind anonymity while being a little bit edgy

also, ykk221, i hadn't realised and would have worded what i'd said differently so sorry about that, but the points remain the same.

Yep. It's one of my most used generic nouns in real life, but I don't use it on here at all really.

Yeah, where I come from it's a very commonly used word. It can be used with negative connotation, but more often than not, it's purely colloquial. Fore example, when referring to a person that you know, but another party does not, you might say: "Aye don't worry, he's a good cunt him". Or when giving a friend a gentle ribbing about being sensitive, you might say: "Behave yourself, ya soft cunt"

If used as an insult, it's rather offensive, but if somone was going to insult you by calling you a swear word, you're more likely to be refferred to as an Arsehole. And that's pretty much exclusively and insult.

i try and curb the use of the word cunt a lot now. in real life it seems a little too vulgar (again, unless in an affectionate way), and online i worry about how it comes across to americans. i let it slip every now and again though. hard not to
