They do run through, and the metal piece is what retains them in place. Remove the metal piece, the strings aren't stopped by anything, so you'd need to add a stopbar or the ends of the strings would just be loose.
That natural finished one is pretty nice. I sorta wanna refinish mine in seafoam green.

When I had one I don't remember the strings being stopped by the metal plate, I think they are stopped at the other end of the body, I might be wrong though. If you do remove the plate the guitar isn't all finished under it as it's the plate that is earthed, so you'd still have a crap looking guitar just with an earthing problem...

I'd say at this point, I've grown to accept the big chrome plate, so it's not worth the effort to mod. When I bought it I was planning on modding it with an EMG 81, swapping out all the hardware and a few other things, and now... I've grown to like it just as it is.

Yeah I never had a problem with it on my sunburst jet. On the otherhand I don't think the stock pickups are very good and could probably do with an upgrade but I just decided to save up for a better guitar rather than invest money in it.

The ORM stock pick-up is the only Ibanez stock pup I've actually liked. My seven string really could use a swap, at least in the bridge.

Non original shortscales. Any shortscale fenders that aren't Mustangs, Broncos, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters or Jaguars
According to Mike's definition, mine is definitely a new breed. Jagmaster with Jazzmaster pickups.
and thanks for the compliments.

I know the Bronco Jr isn;t really a new breed or an old breed.. Just kind of it's own breed.
That is one cool looking guitar! Did you have the body custom made?

That makes me want to start me Mustang project so bad. Nicely done with the Jag Tremolo. After seeing this guitar and Fran's Jag-stang, I like the Jag-trem in these other Shortscales.

This thread has me thinking . Fender has the Tele with Dynatrons called " The Cabronita " . If I throw in Dynatrons in my Toronado could I call it " The Pendeja " ? Seriously, think about it . A Mustang with Dynatrons can be called a " Hueyputa " .
A "cabron" is slang in a lot of latin countries as an idiot or a guy that is too dumb to realize other guys are banging his girl for anyone not that familiar with Spanish. " Cabronita " feminizes it . Dynatrons in a Fender can justify a profane name for your guitar ? That is pretty frickin funny.

That baritone is awesome! You got the stock pickups in there?
