I used my mod powers to edit it so it is. I sort of wish I hadn't now.

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price was your BC Rich Fran? It looks class. I love the neck/body join.
This is the good part, they are on Thomann for £153
my local store is BCR dealer and he said they must be selling them at a loss. They usually retail over £400, in fact, you can't buy bolt on model for £153 on eBay. Not new.
Needless to say, I couldn't help myself at that price.

Nick. That is sick. Love it.

Holy crap that's cheap. I was expecting you to say £500-700.

I feel very tempted.

You cant go wrong James, srsly. I mentioned the model on the BCR forum thinking there was a 'catch' but apparently the only misleading information is its a quilted maple top not birds eye maple, its also a veneer not a cap like on the originals (its Chinese btw but they have stepped up their game immensely over the last few years as we all know). They also said Thomann do these one-off's from time to time much to my local dealers fury. Come christmas they may be £300. Shipping is 10 euro's (no import fee) and it arrived in 4 days, excellent service.

Thing is, its easy to dismiss BCR through association and the ridiculous models with the awful 'widow' headstock but the 'classics' are just that. They can be what you want them to be, like this dude, his friend fitted some P90 flavor humbuckers on this...

Although I love the way the neck meets the body, that's actually part of the problem. I'm trying to avoid buying any guitars that aren't bolt-on because they'd be a hassle to take with me when I go to America so will likely have to be sold here. A bolt on I can take apart and pack in with clothes and whatever else. If it wasn't for that I'd probably go for it. It's silly cheap.

I played quite a few 'metal' guitars in America and the thing I disliked about a lot of them was that the frets were just huge. Very wide and very high. It was almost like playing a scalloped neck. These look more reasonable.

Yeah, this is 'classic series' based on the late 70s Mockingbirds. Its more Gibson than Schecter Hellraiser as far as frets, feel and sounds are concerned.
Dammit James, i thought you was going to be my brethren here. :x
Two cases aint that bad right? Oh, Thomann send you a bottle of Pimms with the guitar as well.. did i forget to mention that?

That's fucking stunning looking, Fran. It's also a steal, at that price.

The 'mocking' is from the crowd. No seriously it looks a very well put-together guitar but the shape is just LOL.

That was my thought, I'm sure it plays amazingly and sounds great but the shape ruins it for me :?

Fuckit, we can't all complain that none of the big companies try anything new anymore and then complain when everything isn't a strat or tele.

How does it sound, Fran? Demo?

<3 that Mockingbird Fran. That's the only BCR model I'm into. As others have said, that price is incredible.

Ain't that the truth,

Ps: Fran do an demo, and play Pavement covers in tribute to Malkmus’ mocking bird abusing days

Here's some pics of my lil family to date :
My 90s Fender Toronado with Duncan Phatcats .
Image
My Fender Baja Tele . Stock . Thinking of adding a Bigsby . I most likely will since I can't keep anything standard.
Image
My Squier 51. One of the first ones . Way better made than the newer ones. One of my favorites and my cheapest . Duncan Invader in the Bridge , Duncan Vintage rail in the neck . Might too get a Bigsby . Image
My Fender Mustang 69 Reissue. Wil stay stock . Needs NOTHING . Favorite bass.
Image my twins . My lovely twins . Eastwood Hi Flyers . 6 string and a 4 string. I don't give a fuck . These are awesome guitars . Way better than the Univoxs they clone .
Image
My Squier Dirnt Bass. Gotoh 201 and a Basslines 1/4 Pounder . Excellent bass.
Image
Last but not least my Alden Quadrastar . Such a fucking oddball quirk guitar I was compelled to have it . I take delivery at the end of the month. I will write a full review when I get it ( Since there isn't a fucking thing on them anywhere on the web)
