Pickup selector suggestion.

Rather than a toggle, what about another knob either;
1/ a fader between the 2 pickups
2/ 4 way rotary neck/bridge/parallel/series
Interesting thread, quite like the overall design.

it's my very first run of an original guitar...I want to keep things really simple. When things settle, as we are only a two-man operation, we will most likely open ourselves to more complex and custom jobs.

I'm not talking about quality of the guitar. I'm just talking about the design elements.

agreed. the design is dated. Maybe it's the right guitar, but this is the wrong decade. I hope to make guitars that stand the test of time. We'll see...

Or at least a guitar that will hold up though an entire set.

That looks so awesome.
I'm interested in one of these once you get started out, for sure.
Have you thought about how you're going to finish it?
I think the way Dano U2's are painted would look great on that guitar. All white back and sides and coloured top;

dano u2's don't just use the tape on the side like other danos?

They are covered in a vinyl like material rather than painted I believe.

doesn't anybody design with clay anymore? it's so much better than drawing if you don't know how to draw.
I think most people do. But you know the phrase to sketch? Perhaps you've used it in saying you sketched out an idea? No point in having a lump of clay if you don't know what you are moving towards shaping.

I've never been a fan of huge, bulky headstocks, but I am not opposed to the idea. I do fully intend to do something extra regarding the word "Mercury", though
yeah i hear ya....i was picturing a modified mosrite headstock.
either way its looking good. i'd be in if only i could spare the change.
Dude. Fuck right off - I designed the headstock curve, I'm gonna sue when they get rich and famous.
I'll split the cash with you if you keep it on the downlow.

How thick are you planning on making the bodies? Thin like a Mustang, or more regular like a Jag or Strat?

Like I originally said! Jaysus.

The Mercury will be much different then this guitar when it's done. This thing looks like crap, I think. The mercury is already done in my head and the lines and flow is real smooth (I think).
I don't think there's any need for that, at all. That guitar is beautiful, and actually was produced, I full believe you guys can do it - but lay off beating other designs down until you have some out the door - and even then don't do it. You don't want to be like that Ed Roman cunt do you?

Oh and solid white (thick) or WBW pickguard all the way. Parchment and mint and all that is so niche, you can always sell those colour pickguards on the side innit. (you'll make more $$)

yeah, if you can figure out how to sell upgrades without degrading your entry level, you're in the money. for guitars, or bikes, or whatever.

And he cuold have a lot more if he wasn't the most despised man in guitar manufacturing.
