Mike's response wasn't, it's what happens. Unless you're like me and you hide behind the sofa not saying much until you jump out a week before a meetup and dive in.

did you decide on a pguard? or are you waiting until you've landed on a body color?

i didn't consider the insult to be backhanded, i considered it to be run-of-the-mill, and fairly tame by ss standards. it's all fun and games till someone you don't know shares an opinion, which now that it's in the open, i do appreciate the work that went into it, i just think it's ugly. I WILL NO LONGER SAY WHETHER OR NOT SOME AESTHETIC OF WHATEVER IS POSTED HERE AGREES WITH MY EYES OR NOT.
seriously, what's it going to take? yeah, i own a "goth" les paul. it plays awesome, and looks like a les paul in flat black. and i got it for cheap. it's an example of timeless design. this is not, and because i see it is that, i thought a harmless comment would be seen as nothing more - clearly i underestimated everyone's quickness to panty-bunching.
an apology? paypal everyone for their time i wasted by saying that awful t word? "Jog on" to never return? clearly this is only the place to express your opinion if it's deemed acceptable.
Mike wrote:You're clearly neither a linguist or an Aesthete, you're just a cretin.
dude, fuck off. i wasn't even talking to you, or pushing some holier-than-thou bullshit. i see my 'corruption' of one word, and my lack of enthusiasm for a body design has given you some sort of insight into who i am. didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. that time of the month?
Here's the deal and it is fairly simple and easy to figure out. If you can't maybe we can draw a picture for you or something.
Typically when entering a community, one gets to know people prior to dropping words like TURD to decribe things that they do. If you had been posting here for months, had some dealing with Mike, James, and or RobOg.....and then proceeded to make a comment like that it would have been taken a little better maybe just due to the fact you would be a known entity.
Being that you are a NOOB, walking in and saying that is just a big red flag that tells everyone that your are an idiot with no tact or common sense. It is kind of like when on their 3rd post someone wants to go in the Whorehouse and put gear up for sale or sell their business (hence the reason for the minimum....)
Advice, opinions, and constructive criticizm are all fine and appreciated. Childish derrogatory comments about a valued member's projects will get you shot down around here. If and when you settle down and can CONTRIBUTE to the community, you might be able to get away with a comment like that. But in either case, Noob or not, a simple nice work but not my cup of tea was by far the better answer. We try to keep our dick measuring in jest or in the pub...Not in the info sections of the forum and not when discussing 2 very valuable members hard work.
Ok now say 3 hail mary's and flail yourslef.

Christ on a bike.. I nearly gave myself a heart attack. I just mocked up a few colours and saved the pictures in the same place I've been saving the mustang dressing room images. I named the images for this by their colour, and when I went to upload the first image I saw was 'antigua.jpg'. I had at least two seconds of wondering what the bloody hell my subconscious was playing at and if I really was a fan after all.
As a disclaimed to the colour choices. I've decided to buy paint from that manchester place that sells nitro. Halfords paint just takes far too long to cre and isn't the best looking anyway. The main problem with this is that i'm limited to 60s Fender colours. As a result of that, I've gone with a pearl pickguard. i've very roughly outlined the pickguard in black just to show the ply. Also for some colours, eg daphne, I'll probably go for black robroes rather than white. keep in mind too that most of the time i'll probably have this guitar wired up with single coils, the humbuckers are there jst because they already were.
These will just be stock Fender colours so you can use your imagination to make up for the inaccuracies.

I'm having rob use pearl because it's fairly safe for all of these colours and I like it. I might go ahead and get a guard made in the pink paisely (by rob or someone else) later, especially if i do inca silver.

I'm thinking daphne with angled (single coil pickups will be angled like a mustang) black robroes will look brilliant.
I switch between all five of those colours. At the moment I think I like Inca Silver. Daphne has always been a front runner though, and there's just something awesome about shell pink.

Do this either with daphne blue or shell pink.
I'd go with blue myself.

All the colours look great on this guitar to be honest.
one thing worries me slightly, but its probably unfounded, the top horn snapping under its own weight....I imagine this is a silly thought. but it would temp me to strap onto the back of the guitar sg style instead of the top horn.

Having two pickguards means I can send one off for someone to copy for me (hurb?) if i later go for paisley. Silver or white keep paisley an option.
I am very tempted by daphne blue. And finishing it in daphne with black robroes means I want have to do that to my mustang, and will save me a lot of bother there.

It's crossed my mind, and when doing the original drawing for the tracing I made it a bit thicker because of that.
I think there's enough wood there for it to be solid.

Yeah I think we disscussed it before on msn ages ago actually. I guess rob will be able to tell you for sure seen as how he is working on it.

Personally, I love the surf green... Daphne blue would be my 2nd choice, but I think they would all look good, I didn't like the look of the guitar at first but now I can't stop thinking about it. . . .
