manchester guitar tech is 15 quid for colour. hurb already has tins of clear for free(well bought ages ago). if I just put one tin of red on and went to sand it smooth I would get sand throughs, I need more than 1 tin on there whether it is colour or clear.

Knobs...not sure, Its only going to be a volume and TOGGLE on the plate...I quite like the idea of a tele knob on there.

Very nice. Either could work. If you have a black toggle tip it would look nice with a chrome knob or a standard Jaguar/Mustang knob.

Question mike, Is there a 3 way toggle out there that has the same size shaft as a normal pot? I have jazzmaster switches but I would have to drill the plate for them..and I don't feel all that comfortable doing it with a vintage rare XII plate. any ideas?

ALSO! This paint is awesome, I started painting yesterday, Most of a tin of red, over half a tin of clear, and I last sprayed a few hours ago. I was able just now to lightly sandpaper with 600 grade just to smooth it out a little before I shoot more clear. If this was halfords garbage I would of put finger marks melted all over it. coool!

that's good to know about the paint- i've got some for the musicmaster from the same place and i'm a bit unsure of it, never having used nitro. any hints 'n' tips would be appreciated, i'm going to be doing it in the next few weeks...

and the guitar's looking amazing, i'm glad you went for the red in the end.

What do you want to know mate? Have you painted before? Give reranch a read through. main thing is prep work and the sanding and buffing at the end...the painting in the middle is not really important as you can fix anything just about. but the prep must be good and the surface smooth. and the buffing at the end is a pain in the arse and you can easy get sand throughs etc.
One thing, it is fucking cold right now...nitro or any paint really doesnt like cold or damp. you will need to paint inside like in a garage or something and keep bringing the guitar inside to keep it warm.

not done it on such a big area with nitro before. i've got all the reranch stuff printed off and i've been extra fastidious with my prep so far... just really if there's any definite DONT'S with that paint... but now you mention it, i didn't really like the idea of doing it in the open air anyway because of bits of grit and shit flying about. yeah, i think i'm going to paint it in my shed then hang it up indoors. i'd hate to cock it up at the final stage having spent so long on it up til now.

One tip dont paint all of the colour tin on, paint enough so the primer is covered then a little more, then save the rest for sand throughs later.
paint the clear quite wet...its hard to do this without getting the odd run(although they smooth out a bit when curing) but its better for the finish later when sanding and of course the more clear on the more you cand sand smooth later before going through to the primer.

you dont need to sand between colour coar and clear even though reranch tell you to. but a little sanding with 600 or 800 half way through the clear wont hurt.
check for hairs and dust and shit between coats.(this has been a pain for me with this light paint every atom shows up and then gets sealed in more clear! twat.
dont breath the shit in, I am now dizzy as fuck. and probably have lung aids.

Other than man just post as you progress and we can help. dont rush it but dont noho it either.

Yeah man, get a Les Paul style one and you should be absolutely laughing. I have one for my Duo Sonic. I think I got it from Axesrus or maybe with my GPR order.

I think it was the Â£6.50 ones. Measure the diameter of your hole. It depends whether you have 9mm ot 7mm holes.
