I typically don't look at buying an new instrument and say "yeah, I'll just change this and that and route this and switch that.."
Whats the point in buying a NEW guitar to fuck with it? I'd pick up one used sure, but not go out and drop the dough on a new one and then dump more money into making it a proper jazzmaster when you could have the CP jazzmaster which is great value

I wouldn't buy one new to mod it. I would definitely try the stock setup before I would change pickups or anything else. If I bought the Blacktop Jag, I would definitely add the Bass Cut switch and maybe teh Kurt switch. A little extra chrome would make it look nice.

Well, if I bought one to mod, it certainly wouldn't be to make it just like another stock model, with the same parts etc. What would be the point of that? I would turn it into something that I can't buy off the shelf.

I buy to modify all the time. I see it as pretty much the same thing as putting together a Fender-style project guitar. It's very often the cheaper route than buying exactly what you want, in fact unless you're talking strat or tele it's usually cheaper than sourcing all the bits on ebay and putting one together yourself.

Why are there no pickup rings on the strat but there are on the other guitars? Surely doing the strat without them is admitting that they look fucking awful.

I've only seen the 'Duncan Designed' pickups in Squiers before. Would be interesting to know how they sound.

my initial instinct was to agree with their use on the jazzmaster, in order to give some sort of proportion being that the jazzmaster pickups are fucking huge.

but then why not on the tele, or jaguar? you'd think with how smashing it looks on the jagmaster to have them mounted directly to the scratchplate, they've had taken note.

I like the whole range aesthetically. Not everyones cup of tea, but by the sounds of it they've been catering for that market since the 60's. If they're daring, they're too daring and if they play it safe they're boring. It seems a no win situation for them. To me, this range has a nice balance.

Well im sorry Rhys and Owen, i think they look like shit. The Jazzmaster is abysmal, odd pickups? LOL. Only Johnny Ramone can pull that one off, to me this Jazzy looks like a retarded version of that guys in FEEDER, you know... but without the rhythm circuit.
The Jaguar is just insulting.
The other models are'nt worth mentioning, yawn, Strat and Tele variations (we need more FENDER!). This is'nt daring to me, its re-hashing old shit. The Fender Performer was daring. The Fender Katana was daring.

Total garbage.

Why so angry Fran ? These clearly aren't the guitars for you sir, but I reckon there is a market out there for them and Fender is a business.

Don't really get why I can't be excited about these guitars without having tried them ? I could quite easily throw that question straight back at ya.

Also, Mismatched pickups ? All types of pickups can be found on any one guitar nowadays... I again, don't see why this is a problem.
