ObveeUS-Lee... these things don't sound very special. Could just be the guys demoing not having any idea how to EQ or highlight the features of the guitars, but, they sound like a lot of other guitars out there.

I just got an Email coupon from Musicians Friends for $50 bucks off these... $750 is still FN Rediculous... FAIL...

I love this New Stang and have always wanted a LPB axe but the price makes it an automatic FAIL!!!!

Also that Mustang body looks tiny in the vid...

HotRod... Thanks for the link to that Jazzy post...that was a Solid post and something I would like to do.... My Next guitar will more than likely be the VM Jazzy or Jag and it will deffinately get a Mustang bridge and either hard stoptail ala Gibson or normal trem for these models.....

Too much reverb and not enough dirt. I would like to hear Andy at PGS put these through their paces. He also mentioned the pups on the Mustang were the same as the Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster, but Fender's website says they are WRHB not Enforcer WRHB.

I just looked at that email too, It sounds like the $50 off is only on the Standard series, so it doesn't include these. It seemed confusing because it was right under the picture for these guitars, but it says $50 off all Fender Standard Series Strats, Teles, P basses and J basses.

800 is still 150 less than what they are selling new mustangs for right noe (939 is the standard price I think)..

Too expensive and the LPB mustang is the only one of those that does not look pretty bad to me personally.

Liek I said before, when they hit CL at 4-500 I may pick one up. Not 800..

Or when Best Buy has them for 499 on clearance....lol

The price point and the advertising campaign feel like a bad april fools day joke.

I love the 72 in surf green, I would just switch the bridge to a metal covered pickup. Also the blend knob? odd.

I like the mustang as well, looks nice, but would never own one unless someone gave me 800 bucks to buy whatever, but then I would rather use it for a Vintage Mustang. I really like the idea of the switching options on the Mustang.

I keep hoping the price is the April Fools Joke!

ive the impression they're just pressing options onto the grunge kids out there. Those kids want offset looks, but no vintage specs. They want humbuckers, easy to work with bridges and modern fretboards in a classic design. That Mustang is perfect for them. It should be priced in the blacktop area for these buyers, though. Ok, now they have the Squier Jags and Jazzys, the blacktop jag and Jazzys, this ...Mustang and the classic player jags and jazzys. That's 4 series at 3 price points offering basically the same for those players. Who will buy all that? Ok, on the other hand, they have about 10 or 15 Tele models in that price range.

Meanwhile, they axe the japanese 62 Reissue Jag and Jazzmaster from europe. I'm not the victim here, my jap. Jazzmaster has increased in value about 100 € just by that. But will I ever buy one of these here? I guess not.

The first one is to show the body differences from a top down view. The second one is lined up virtually the same as the other person's pick except it's on top and transparent. The dots from the 12th fret and up line up along with the bridge but there was still off from the first to the 12th. . I never said there were no differences, I just wanted to use two similar photos. The flyer pics looked a little stretched out to me. I laid both the Fender glossy shots on each other and that's how it looks.The only way to get it to line up perfectly is to stretch the photo which defeats the purpose. the first one cut off more body than it should have.

They are prettly clearly a drastically different shape. Top horns are the mustang-y part, the rest is like an aborted Jaguar.

taylornut, the nut is clearly not lined up overtop of each other in those photos. the pictures are not the same scale.

that's what he said. he lined them up by the bridge saddle placement on that image.

I've figured out why I like the mustang special. It kinda reminds me of vintage musicman guitars looks-wise.

I looked at the original pics again. They are the same size, but the PawnStang is 300dpi and the 65RI is 72dpi, which is throwing it off quite a bit. I got the sizes and resolutions to match up and now it is a much closer match. The spacing on the frets of the Pawnstang doesn't line up with the 65RI until the 12th fret.



The picture also helps you visualize how the Mustang Trem would look on the Pawn Stang. I like the Mustang tremolo better but with the amount of body they removed on the Pawn Stang, I can see why they went with the hard tail strat bridge because of the smaller footprint.

here, I've lined them up using nothing but 'image size' and 0.8 degrees of 'image rotation':



...which looks roughly the same as dan's comparison to me. I think the mustang bridge might be pushed back in the picture, that's why it seems like you can either line up the frets, or the bridge, but not both.
