thanks Mo. I love you too.
No, i added the vibrola--it fits the existing screw holes from the stock tailstop, so there was no modification necessary. but i had to search around for one of the older model vintage vibrola's--they're slightly shorter than the one on my '68 SG, for example.

Your AVRI Jazzmaster is in my favourite colour scheme (for reference, I also am very jealous of your LP and SG).

HWB, very nice indeed, 3 very beautiful guitars. I like the beefier neck on my JM as it makes me play a lot differently.

so, I have a question, and this isn't meant to be troll-y or judgmental by any means . . .
but why have, essentially, the exact same guitar twice? I've never really understood guitar collecting. Or collecting of anything. Right now, I have 3 guitars and that's way too many. I need to get rid of one but they're all so different, I can't decide. Why have two teles and two jazzmasters? why have so many guitars? your collecting isn't as big as we all see pictures of, I'm just curious because when I have 3, I only play one.
I guess things may be different when I have more disposable income and more space of my own, I just wonder what peoples reasons are. It is a magnificent collection and I want every guitar you own.

i pretty much tried getting different guitars--at first i just had 1 of each. but then i wanted a tele with a bigsby--which is a much different feel and sound than a tele without one. i got my second JM (my AVRI) because i was doing a lot of stuff with different tunings--so i wanted another one. also, just because i like having more guitars and appreciate their individial/unique idiosyncrasies.
the last 2 i just picked up--the '62 JM and '66 Jag--i really was looking at them as 'investments' that i can enjoy. there is no logical or practical reason for having all of the stuff. sometimes i do feel like i have too much stuff, but this is pretty much the only thing in my life i'm passionate about.
that said--i am a songwriter at heart and all guitars seem to have different 'songs' inside them. sometimes the certain quirks of different guitars will bring out different playing and different ideas. even my 2 vintage jazzmasters ('62 and '65) have different feeling necks. the '62 is beefier and is slab. it plays and sounds different.

that all makes sense, and I guess it's what I expected.
I'll be curious to see if these vintage guitars actually grow in value. they're already so high, a part of me thinks they won't get a whole lot more valuable. It also largely depends on how many kids end up playing the guitar. If the guitar becomes an instrument that isn't a popular to play, what happens to the value? still the same supply with less demand. that's is another topic for it's own thread, I feel.
gorgeous guitars. the Jag is my favorite by far.
