Does Corgan use a Blender?

I came around to them via the Sonic Youth/My Bloody Valentine connection.
Kevin Shields gave Corgan a Fender Blender but I think the only song that he ever used it on was the solo to 'Here is no why'.

definitely sounds blender-ish for the solo, but might be one of many other pedals he had, or just the 40 layers of guitar on that song, either way the pedal pulls of a very similar sound.

Billy Corgan - Fender Blender

Fender Blenders have more gain than you'd ever need or know what to do with and underneath the ton of fuzz is this slight octave effect. When you play a note and hold it & vibrato it a bit, the blender will start off with the note you play, and a harmonic generated one octave above the note you play, and gradually, the actually note you're holding disappears under the fuzz, and you're left with a squealing sustained octave that was generated by the pedal. It's wonderfully sick. And just when you thought it couldn't get any louder or more gained out, there's a boost button. Billy says it sounds like the end of the world, and I have to say he's right. You can hear the blender on MCIS in Bullet at about 1:30 when the speakers come in really distorted. Also, it sounds like the blender was used for rhythm in XYU where you can't distinguish one chord from the next near the end. If you have Viewphoria, that seen in Japan where they play slunk with through those two JCM 800 2203 heads, the distortion is all coming from the Fender Blender. It makes the guitar sound unintelligible.

They can be made "regular" with a daisy chainable supply with another transistor though. Try uploading the song to mediafire and posting the link
Right, so I could run the Fuzz & Rangemaster togheter (daisychained) off the same powersupply? If so, that's cool.

Would the "regular" way with the added transistor affect anything?
Yeah you could daisy chain those two pedals together. If I flipped it to a regular layout it would possibly sound a little different, I'll prototype it and get back to you.

Right on, I don't mind daisy chaining it with the fuzz, that's all good.

Mike your Rangemaster is done!

And Kim so is your mini mini Saltboost

The silver paint did odd things with the lacquer on both which is annoying, but it's a minor thing I think.

Got the blender... don't have a power plug for it yet so I haven't messed with it yet. It's sitting next to the Franken-Sonic waiting to be unleashed.

Wicked, glad it got to you AOK. Let me know how it goes when you plug it up

It needs a 9V centre-negative 2.1mm Boss style jack.

yeah pretty much, it's tight as a gnat's chuff in there. What else were you thinking of? A basic fuzz might also fit.

Mike and Kim, your pedals go in the mail today!

hmm. been thinking about another fuzz, but space on my board is tighter than said gnat's bits... actually, i'm going to have a re-jig of my board today or tomorrow, so i'll see how that goes first. i might get you to do a wee thing like this though, depending how that works out.

i take it it would just be a gain pot on something this size?
