Where did you set the bias?
You might also want to try a filter or shielded wiring...

At 4.5V.
it's not the wiring. It's the drain trimpots. They're cheap and noisy.

Weird... I never found em noisy, but I do build mine different than you... Not saying anything, though.
Did you get the black/ orange ones or the blue/grey ones?

You can see them in the pictures.
i've done some research and using Trimpots as Drain bias resistors is pretty much panned across the board as adding lots of unecessary hiss. It's not too bad, but seeing as I've got this far, at some point I will fix it.

Still totally loving the sound of this baby at practise with the band. Proper beefy, it's a very nice complement to my Amp overdrive.
Got that cliff jack out of there this morning before work as the cats got me up insanely early:
Wiring is a lot neater now that the pot routing is under the board and the exact right length.
DONE.
