It's gone. Musicians Friend and Music 123 are both sold out now.

Nick wrote:really what are the differences? The original has a maple top and binding? For about 1/3rd of the price I'd say yours looks every bit as good as the 73 on the left
One other big difference: The 70's Les Pauls weigh about 11 lbs my 50's Tribute weighs 7.6 lbs (yes it is chambered).

Oh yeah I remember that now. I prefer the chambered ones myself actually because I'm so used to playing hollow/semi hollow guitars at this point. I got my studio the last year they weren't chambered (2007), and sort of regretted not waiting after I found out.

Yeah, all the Les Paul purists have a hissy fit when they hear that it is chambered but I love it.

Oh one other difference is a multi piece back. Mine has a 2 piece back.

Congratulations westtexasred! Glad to see that you got one, and possibly even two.

I hope they do an interesting run with a 60's slim neck next. Although I think this awesomeness is the exception with Gibson rather than the rule. (Kroeger sig, robot, dusk tiger, suing Guitar Hero, gibson Hendrix strat, almost all guitar of the month models, the BFG to some degree, ...)

The white has really grown on meh. It would look choice with upgrades of mother of pearl and white plastic instead of early 90's pc cream. Keep the chrome / nickel hardware though; gold ... anyone ever seen gold hardware on a goldtop? Shhh, don't tell Gibson. Could be next Justin Bieber signature model. Except he would play a Mustang obviousleh.
God damn it! Its a Zombie Apocalypse. Do I have a baseball bat nearby?

My dad just called and asked if "you or anyone you know had a lead on the goldtop". I immediately thought of WTR and this thread.
westtexasred wrote:Haha Thanks! I don't know if I will really get the second one. I just had to try to see it the link I posted above really worked. It does so now I have another on order. We'll see if I ever actually get it.
Hey man, if you ever sell, I'd def consider buying.

Oh wow, I posted a link last week when Music123 was still taking orders but they are all sold out now. The Goldtops have been selling for crazy money on Ebay ($1200-$2200!) (Link) but maybe the price for used ones will come down. Your best bet to get one for $849 or less is to find a Gibson Dealer that has one in stock or on order. Most of the big internet stores are sold out but there are still alot of smaller dealers(brick and mortar stores) that haven't received theirs yet. If I get a lead on one I will shoot you a PM.

No problem. But if you really want to get one I would suggest you call or email some Gibson dealers and ask if they have one or can reserve one for you. Click the "Buy Now" tab (here) for a list of dealers.

It's a really nice guitar and worth the effort to find a new one for $849 from a Gibson dealer. These are still in production but it is a single run that is scheduled to end in December.

I really don't get your point at all. A normal Gibson finished LP Studio costs about $500 more than what they're asking for this, which is about what they were selling the plain mahogany faded ones for. Face it, $800-$850 is low for a brand new Gibson Les Paul, even a studio with an unfinished back. This one has cool top colors, electronics, and little touches like hat knobs w/ blood testers. You could look at many other guitars and call them more overpriced/unnecessary than this one, so why single it out?

This was posted in "Henry's Forum" today:

"Gents, The run has indeed ended, but this only means that we have sold it out. It does not mean that we have built all of the guitars. These guitars will continue to be in production for a few months, all production going to fill the existing orders. It is not possible to build all at one time as we are building most of our models every day. A % of the mix every day is the Studio 50's Tribute"

The white ones at Amazon sold out but

Rainbow Guitars still has a white one

and Dave's Guitars has a Cherry Sunburst
