The DS-1 is to be modded, like many others it was my first pedal... and for $25 not a bad investment at all. Oh and yeah, it's a grumbly wolf.

I was wondering about those vintage time machines.....
Basically they're DMM clones? Also are they any good?

I only played with a dmm a long time ago in a shop, so i can't really compare, but it is suppose to sound like one.
I just got it today, in a trade. I don't have much experience with analog delays (just with simulation from a dd20), but it sounds pretty good. i haven't mess around with the chorus/vibrato yet. It oscilates really nice, much more controllable and "warm" then my old dd3. I don't think it is true bypasse, at least when on bypasse mode (just turning it of on the footswitch, it does have an on/off slider), because i can hear it oscillate when it's off. It also adds some noise when it's one, or maibe it's just a cable or because i put it on a daisy chain or something like that...
I pretty much like it, but it's kind of big. If the real dmm is has good has this one i don't think i would spend 250 euros on one, but i just got the pedal....

i've got my PB&J delay back from james, i missed it a lot. it has the analogue vibe of the reel echo, but in a smaller size. so i built this board up. i've got it set up so i can use the delay on the amp's drive channel, yet not be too washy. the tone-bender makes a wicked boost for the amp's drive channel and makes a nice rhythm sound on the clean channel. the phase 90 is definitely staying. all I'm gonna add is my TREX fuel tank Jr when it arrives and my salt-booster for lead boosts when i start gigging again.

side note: opened my phase 90 to stick a 9v in it and on the circuit board it says EVH Phase 90 revision 2!

Did my first jam with a band yesterday, FUCK drummers are loud. It was just the drummer, guitarist, and myself in a cramped room. I've come to realize that if i want to play in a live band of even jam with a drummer i'm going to need a louder amp, the 30 watt spider isn't cutting it and doesn't sound the best either way you look at it. I brought along the fallowing setup - HallBabe Wah, Box of Rock, Classic Distortion, Regenerator, DD600, Pitch Black, and the loop station. And to my surprise the Box of Rock didn't shine near as much as the Classic Distortion. There is something about it that cuts through so well with a band. If the Box of Cake comes anywhere near it it will be my only dirt pedal. But i will probably end up with both of them on the board. The Delay wasn't much use except for solos to cut through. The Regen. was nice but didn't sound too useful. After a jam with a friend who plays a great bit of metal music [he had a 7 string with emg's in it for christ's sake] i found the HellBabe to be near useless. Even with the band i played with it wasn't all that usefull unless we were dicking around. I'm thinking about a phase 90 or small stone to be my modulation source. The loop is mainly for myself, but it was useful when jamming with people. LESS TALK MORE ROCK!!!

I'm really liking the simplicity of this, it should stay like this until the Box of Cake shows up or i can afford/trade for a small stone/phase 90

I think the Box Of Rock works well if you leave it on all the time as your base sound, and treat it like an amp, hit it with other pedals and have it last in your chain. But I think you might be experiencing the issues you are because you're using a Hybrid/Solid State Amp. You'll find you struggle a lot less with a 30W tube combo, like a Peavey Classic 30 or similar. Hopefully you'll have the Box Of Cake soon.

i'll give that a shot [the BoR last] and i'm actually shooting for a Classic 30. Can't wait for the Box of Cake though

A few recent setups with messy spaghetti cables here and there tying it all together, the preferred pedals in the herd obviously getting repeated appearances. I may have a bit of a lush collection now, but if one doesn't get much use after a few months I don't think twice about selling it.










Emily got a workout today, too. Added a bone nut and did some switching around, and the Kent Armstrong P-90 in the bridge sounds so perfect I'm probably going to put another in the neck probably very soon. Plywood never sounded so good, and sure enough an SG feels great sitting higher than the ultra drop I usually do with Fenders.

The rotary switch is a Vari-tone by Big D Guitars I had lying around, and did a random "what the heck" while installing it. Very interesting what you can do with it when playing about with the tone knob, the hi-pass first position plus tone rolled all the way off makes it sound like a resonator, and No.5 is a fat bass thumper. Of course every position cuts output volume, but with a floor boost you can get some cocked-wah tones and the like without issue. Mostly a novelty in my hands, but still a lot of fun.
