Cool. Love SJAG-2's, best of both worlds.

I couldn't decide between the vintage one or the quarter pounder.

What I had in there before was that Lace Sensor pickup I got from you a while back.

The Gold one? Good pickup but if i remember right it meant losing the Claw and stuff.

Thanks except the only original parts on it are the neck, body, bridge, and some of the screws. The pickguard is from another Musicmaster, the saddles are Wilkinson compensated, the tuners are Klusons from an MIJ strat, it's got a replacement nut, the electronics are all GFS, and the knobs are Bronco knobs courtesy of Sloan.

I have to ask (sorry if I'm not the first to) but how do the CIJ and Squier Jags compare? I'm going to have to give in and buy a Jag someday, but those two are at the top of my list of which ones to try first.

No worries. Overall fit/finish on the CIJ Jaguar was a tad better out of the box. The Squier's pickguard has some burrs on the top left corner and there were some loose bits of wood wedged under the pickup control plate, but it was nothing major and it was easily remedied. They both roughly weigh about the same and have the same overall dimensions, except you'll notice the tremplate on the Squier lacks the trem-lock feature. But, here's the irony. The Duncan Design pickups on the Squier blow away the ones that came with my Japanese Reissue Jag, which were really weak and had to be replaced. Also, out of the box, the Squier seemed to have been set up rather well at the factory and aside from a string change, intonation adjustment, tremolo adjustment and a bit of blue loctite on the saddle grubs, it has been fairly easy to make it playable. On the other hand, my CIJ Jag was a bitch to set up and required having to remove the neck to adjust the truss rod. That's not an issue with the Squier. Also, the bridge on the CIJ Jag was rubbish so I quickly ditched it in favour of a Mustang bridge. The grooves on the saddles were cut too narrow. The one on the Squier isn't so bad by comparison and I've not had any issues with the strings jumping out of the saddle grooves. There is some rattling of the bridge crews, but it's not audible through an amp, so I'm not in a hurry to replace it. I've been thinking of replacing the pickguard and swapping the tremolo for an AVRI tremolo, but I kind of like it as is. I do like them both and I don't regret getting the CIJ Jag, but I can definitely say that the Squier VM Jag is one heck of a guitar for the money.

got my mustang back from RodVonBon he did a killer job on the refinish...
now I just need to stop slacking and finish wiring it up.

Don't know. Just did it. Did that two years ago ha. Probably because I was trying to return it to stock and didn't want it to be thought as a Squier. The tapes been off though since this picture.

Damn that is a nice refin. Don't know about it with a black guard but to each their own. How much does one of these finishes go for?
