It is after all, a Peugeot.

I done the timing belt in my Volvo at 83,000. True story.

Did it end the car?

When I say 'I dun it', technically I took it to a garage, paid them money, then they dun it.

So you changed it late? Big-whoop.
That is of course anyone's perogative. However with the amount of stuff already worn out on my car, I felt it folly to flirt with it. I would attest my Peugeot far less well built and reliable than your Volvo.

I had the timing belt changed on my Mazda at 60,000 and now I have 113,000 on it so I will have to change it again at 120,000.I hope tat won't be until Summer 2009.The car I had before this I had the timing belt break before I fixed it(twice).

the point about there finally being a cheaper version of these guitars available to mod is a good one. i totally would've bought one of these instead of the av i got a few years ago had they been available. it would have allowed me to grow into the nuances of a jag instead of fucking with them right of the bat.

I've always preferred Jazzmasters over Jaguars, but that candy apple Jaguar is bad ass.

Great point.

not sold on the TOM.
why have a 9.5" radius neck with a 12" radius bridge???
anyone???
Why would the TOM be 12" radius?
Fender dont make les pauls - in fact these bridges only appear on this line of guitars. So wont they just be a custom 9.5" radius, or am i missing something?

yea, exactly. they're not TOM. quote: "Bridge: Fender Adjusto-Matic Bridge With Floating Tremolo Tailpiece"

yeah thats what i was thinking. im pretty sure fender has all those little details rounded out, otherwise that guitar would play like crap.

I seriously don't get what the bitching about the tremolo is. It can't be moved more than an inch, and I think it looks way better like that anyway, and it's clearly way more functional. It doesn't need a "buzz stop" as there's clearly no more buzz that needs stopping.
This picture from Offsetguitars pisses me off:
Oh, how funny. So basically, a Telecaster is an aircraft carrier then?
Anyway, this comparison shows it's an extremely minor change:
So dry your eyes folks.

How is it clear that the change has stopped any potential buzz?

the more i look at the trem change, the worse it looks. in a year or so when there a lot cheaper ill most likely pick up and HH jag and mod it some

Moving the trem closer to the bridge increases the angle of the strings, which is all a buzzstop does.

I know that, but how can you tell from the picture that the change has entirely solved the problem? It's guess work at best.
I don't really have an opinion on the design changes, but it's not right to say that it's fixed the problem without having played the guitar.

Well i suppose it is guess work without physically measuring the differences, but you would presume closing the gap has sharpened the angle. Its worth taking note that on a lot of MIM designed Fenders they have made slight alterations to suit modern playing, two obvious example being a flatter radius and matt finish neck.
People can argue the toss all day about these guitars but to the
new offset player and potentially the future market these choices are very welcome. Mike made a valid point about a percentage of people (irrespective of which forum they post on) feeling threatened by these models, just because it makes their exclusive club less important.
As long as we dont see the traditional Jag and Jazzy disappear i think this range is an excellent alternative.

Well it just seems like it's now very similar to a Mustang bridge, and Mustang bridges don't buzz.
