Of those colors the closest to a Fender orange body color is 'Signalgelb', it's imposable to tell really.Maik wrote:sorry, here it is:stewart wrote:what list? it's a shopping cart page on a german website.Maik wrote:Can anybody tell me, what color of the list (open the link) is nearest to the orange of an orange competition mustang? and whats nearest to fiesta red?

If you read through this whole thread you can see that there didn't seem to be a 'standard' color that Fender used on the comp orange guitars. Under the pickguards of the guitars in the pictures, where the color hasn't faded too bad, they go from dayglo orange to mustard yellow. I think 'Signalgelb' is good enough. When is it ever going to be alongside something to compare it to?
And none of them are even close to Fiesta Red.

It's a reissue of the previous three. I'm not a big fan of the reissues, but I am quite taken with this one. It's got a standard '69 reissue body finished in Capri orange which is a little more orange than the originals. The neck is closer to the baseball bat contour than the other '69 reissue I have. The headstock is matching with a black and gold custom contour decal (yuck) and sports kluson white tuners. I replaced the horrid white pearl pickguard with a plain white one. It still has a factory set up and the action is a little high. I shim the necks on my guitars 1 or 2 degrees and use .09s to get low easy action. I need to get around to doing that for this one. Over all the build quality seems some what better on this guitar than other reissues I've played. I don't know what it is about it, though it may be psychological, who knows.

does capri orange have a metallic flake to it, or is it a base color finish?
I can't tell for sure looking at this on my phone but is the red comp bass maple neck? For ages I thought Les Claypool played a comp red mustang bass with maple neck and black blocks and binding on Wynonas big brown beaver video. Couse it was actually a jazz bass but the idea has stuck. Anyone seen such a thing?rodvonbon wrote:I've got a few more for you guys.

youre mustangs are brillant!! they all looks so nice, the ones with all the colors left... that looks like new...rodvonbon wrote:I've had a few forum members ask for better pictures of these guitars and James wanted to know the differences between each of them.
So I took a bunch of pictures and will make a post for each one. The fist thing that stands out is that they are not all the same color.
Of course a lot has to do with the way they have faded over time, but in the end I will have pictures inside the control cavities showing the original colors.
I have replaced the bridge pickup on all of them, so I won't get into how they sound (though they are all different).
i have one question to you, why do you hate reissue models?
KPI - It's not metallic, it's a solid color.
Black Cat - It's a standard reissue maple neck with rosewood fret board.
Weeping Moon - I don't dislike all reissues, just that one. I might not even hate it as much anymore. I put a different pick guard on it and in the process I found that it never had thimbles under the bridge. It's something I should have noticed earlier, but then again I don't play it too often.
