the mustang there looks really good! i don't mind it being smaller, always thought it would look good with a smaller butt. I have to see it live to decide if i like it. They should have called it something else...
i also think the mini wrhm look really cool!

Also: surely the Cyclone was a far better idea and attempt at this sort of thing? If Fender are thiefing the '51 can Squier put out a Cyclone II exactly the same as the Fender one?

Photos done with hipstamatic it seems. The seafoam or whatever colour the 72 is looks really cool actually. I still can't get over the pickup moutn though. UGLY.

Would love a Cyclone II from Squire!
Would love to refit it with a Mustang Trem too

I warm to the Mustang Special to be honest - honking Decal and Bridge aside - slap a Trem on it and I think it's pretty.

They're up on
Musician's Friend. $799.
The picture of the LPB Mustang Special on the counter is a winner. I'm glad that the stupid Enforcer pickups have the Fender stamp on the covers.

I think the mustang does look cool. Maybe a little cluttered with those pickups but still not bad.
"three-way coil selector slide switch for each humbucking pickup" Does this mean they be split to single coils?

And presumably you can then choose which coil to use if it's a three way. That seems kind of pointless if the two coils are identical. I suppose position will count for something.

Looks like these will be about
£638 (link) in the UK
Too much for my liking, but I am a skinflint...

24" scale and it still comes with 9 gauge strings.
After seeing the 'real' pics it doesn't look so bad. I wouldn't consider buying one, especially not at £640, but it's nice they at least tried something new and the body shape suits.

£640 ROLF. That's serious guitar money.

Might not go for bad money second hand though. I'd consider one at say... £450 or less? If I had the money anyway, which I currently don't...

£450 seems a lot, is'nt that what Baja Tele's go for?

It's definitely what I got my Baja Tele for, lol. I dunno, I'd have to play one but if I liked it as much as my Baja Tele (which I think I might with that Mustang as long as it played nicely) I'd consider £450. £350 or something like that would obviously be much more appealing.

Prices have risen recently... I don't think they'll sell to well at that price though for such a niche market.
However I'm pleased they've done it, and I'll await the sale.

Fender prices are crazy high these days. I got my Baja Telecaster for £399 I think and they're now £527, I bought my 65RI Mustang for £449 and they're now £650 or £702.
Princeton Reverbs used to be £599, then £699 and now are £884.
All of this is quite nuts seeing as the economy is buggered.

There is more margin involved in Fender now, so extras / discounts is more likely because of this.
I wonder if those mustang humbucker covers would fit on a CP Jaguar. That'd look lovely !!
