Yeah, stripping the inch thick poly coat from Fender Japan down to the 3-piece body really increased the resonance. It sounds amazing clean, and quite epic through all levels of distortion. I'm still tempted to plop a set of Novak JM-180's in it, but I'm lazy and poor.

Some weird backwards guitar (or I heard one time here).

1997 Squier Super-Sonic. I got it back from my tech today, and it's finally playable. Needed to be completely rewired, new pots, pickups are fine.

The only things left for me to do on it are swap out the pickgard for a black one, and replace the headstock decal with the correct one once it arrives. And I'm gonna swap out the neck volume pot, since the tech dropped in a 250k. I might also do graphite saddles.

Crappy cellphone pic update. Had some white pickguard material, didn't wanna wait and order it, so my tech cut a Supersonic guard using the original as a template, and I sanded it, sprayed it, and put 2 400 watt bulbs over it. I also replaced the neck volume pot with a spare 500k pot I had lying around. I just need to receive my damned decal already.

The previous owner scraped all but the "Super-Sonic". He put "offset contour body" where it said "Vista Series" and Fender where it said Squier. Granted, he did an ok job, and it looks halfway decent. But completely douchetastic.

I ordered a new decal a few weeks back, and I'm just waiting on it to ship

My contribution, nothing spectacular just a CV Duo-sonic just changed the pick up covers to black and changed the knobs.
Sorry for the crap picture

I am really digging the silver flake. I have not followed the history of this guitar if you ever even posted it. But did you finish it yourself? I just built a Warmoth mustang body and I had them finish it in Green flake. I am really interested in trying to do a metal flake finish myself but from what I have read it sounds real tough. Nice guitar!!!

That's how it came from the factory. They offered them in silver and blue flake (as well as black and white). The history of this one.. it's a Vista Series Squier, which were essentially Japanese Market Fenders with 'Squier' on the headstock. They sold them from 96-98. The story behind this one is that I bought it last november at a yard sale in Florida... it was in terrible condition, and I've been bringing it back to life. I had one similar to this one years ago that I had to sell to ship my car to Florida for college (along with another guitar).

It's very playable, but it needs to have the wiring checked out (or new pickups), and I had to send the replacement decal back since it was a little bit smaller than the original and the 'Super-Sonic' didn't have the motion lines that the original decal had.

So for now, it's just chilling in my living room.
