I always liked this kids playing... kinda shows everything, and he has feel. Same vein as Paul Gilbert I think...

Sweet fucking irony. I just changed the strings around so I swapped bottom e for d as i lost one of these string block things to keep them in the saddle. swapping string around fucked up all the tension crazy style.

Here it is, ugly as sin.
Look at that photoflame top. Actually quite nice from a far but large parts of the "guavere" top have peeled off to reveal the basswood underneath. That portion actually snagged on my woolly jumper. Didn't even notice it when I picked it up.
A fair amount of dust, gunk and rust. Floyd and pickups still work well.
Fretwear. Hard to photograph but present on all the frets on their treble side.
Serious knock at some point. Makes me question necks integrity.
Look at that discolouration. Headstock is original shade, the rest is all grime. You can also feel that join (can't remember what it's called) but it feels solid.
Basically, worts and all it plays okay but needs a serious truss rod adjustment and I don't have the tool. With the state of it I believe I have reasonable grounds to return it to the seller. However, given how easy the finish will be to remove I'm considering doing my first spray job on it. Maybe a neon green or something. As for the frets, maybe even have a go at refretting for the first time. It's cheap enough to have a go.
It does sound really really good. Nails that chunky crispy metal sound. It is very fast to play and hasn't even been given a proper setup yet. The neck profile is a really pronounced D shape which is nice to move around on and move across strings, as is the radius for sweeps and stuff. That and the high output pickups mean that ragging away at tapping and sweep picking is easy mode compared to the strat.
So I dunno, not the best deal overall, but some promise yet.

Also, other issues:
- inside needs a rewiring. volume appears to be a bridge blend pot or something. can't work it out. tone just doesn't work. not a big deal to resolder; can't be any worse than a 6 way rotary switch
- the middle hole on the locking nut now has a stripped thread so won't fasten properly. could have been me being an idiot, could have been the seller gluing it so it appeared to work when i collected. already ordered a new nut for £5. not exactly breaking the bank i suppose. can't use trem or do big bends in the meantime.

If it feels and sounds good and it's ok structurally, I'd say view it as an opportunity rather than returning it. I think you're probably right. I was hoping to get a shredder that would be plug and play though. Meh. Suppose there are always others on eBay

I have one of these that i got a really good deal on. I wanted a fixed bridge 25.5" scale with emg81 to keep around for recording.
Recorded this pentagram cover with it running through amp sims. Strings are .12's cause it was in C for a dude's project, so that made noodlin' a little harder.
