I still have to say the nicest touch is the matched grain on the control cavity covers. That's a really nice instrument icey, congrats!

Iceman, tell me about the Orange Drop. I'm trying to pick a cap for the Mustang. The pickups are a Super Distortion and a Lace Sensor Gold.

Single coils normal people use .47 and Humbuckers and lipsticks use .22
on S-H guitar depend what you want , My js ive Sticked original Fender Japonese .47 caps , they arent ceramic so ... i stayed the originals looks good qualitty build greenish caps

at Strato plus Schematic show .22
Image

normal strats show .47 somme stratos its.47 http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/ ... 02CPg2.pdf

at mustang shematics show .5 (today .47)
Image

And Add 500k pots Alpha or CTS , humbucker on .250k sounds muddy

Ah, thanks, man. What are the advantages of the Orange Drop over a different .22 cap?

Precision on build , quality , precision on tone , better qualitty build Its better and more Modern than ceramic , More Tolerance

Fender Japan dont use anymore Ceramic capacitors on standart/premium line
open an Japonese mustang and you will se an Green Capacitor :)

wiki description of caps
* Metal film: Made from high quality polymer film and metal foil (usually polycarbonate, polystyrene, polypropylene, polyester (Mylar), and for high quality capacitors polysulfone), with a layer of metal deposited on surface. They have good quality and stability, and are suitable for timer circuits. Suitable for high frequencies.
* Mica: Similar to metal film. Often high voltage. Suitable for high frequencies. Expensive.
* Paper: Used for high voltages.
* Glass: Used for high voltages. Expensive. Stable temperature coefficient in a wide range of temperatures.
* Ceramic: Chips of altering layers of metal and ceramic. Depending on their dielectric, whether Class 1 or Class 2, their degree of temperature/capacity dependence varies. They often have (especially the class 2) high dissipation factor, high frequency coefficient of dissipation, their capacity depends on applied voltage, and their capacity changes with aging. However they find massive use in common low-precision coupling and filtering applications. Suitable for high frequencies.
* Electrolytic: Polarized. Constructionally similar to metal film, but the electrodes are made of aluminium etched to acquire much higher surfaces, and the dielectric is soaked with liquid electrolyte. They suffer from poor tolerances, high instability, gradual loss of capacity especially when subjected to heat, and high leakage. Special types with low equivalent series resistance are available. Tend to lose capacity in low temperatures. Can achieve high capacities.
* Tantalum: Like electrolytic. Polarized. Better performance with higher frequencies. High dielectric absorption. High leakage. Has much better performance in low temperatures.
* Supercapacitors: Made from carbon aerogel, carbon nanotubes, or highly porous electrode materials. Extremely high capacity. Can be used in some applications instead of rechargeable batteries.

I got caps for my projects at radio shack. I just bought the ones that looked like the old fender caps, big round brown dime sized, and they sound great, better than some orange caps or whatever I put in an other guitar. haha I don't even know what size they were, they just looked like old fender capacitors

also if you requested the pic coz wanting make joke using my topic , fuck you

Old Fender Caps are good , like Lendary Gibsons Bubble and silver tigers

The grapphite bit was in jest I guess, I meant though that you should take a picture of them together.[/i]
