hotrodperlmutter wrote:also, mkt: what's the story with the musicmaster? i had one exactly like that (minus lipstick) that i got from paca, and traded to aen. bronco knobs went with it, so i was wondering if it might have been it. kewl either way.
Actually, that's a rescue from down here. Picked it up in pieces with non functioning electronics, a warped neck, and some pieces missing. Took several months to get it all in order, but now she's a champ. The pickup is a GFS Hot Rails, the 15k one. The Bronco knobs came from Sloan.
hotrodperlmutter wrote:and, when you're ready to sell that delonge, lemme know!
She's not a real DeLonge, rather a partscaster with a real DeLonge body, a broken/repaired neck, and an SD Invader (which came out of a different guitar). Next on the list of mods are a 1 meg DPDT pot + coil split, and when I find one, a 22 fret Squier Standard Strat neck (the only full size, CBS headstock, 22 fret neck available for cheap) to replace the 21 fret neck it has.

I've always wanted a hardtail strat to beat up on... this was it :D

LOL. I have not been called a dingdong in quite some time. Thank you

Love it.
How often do you play it? I think I would find it pretty hard to buy a vintage guitar and not play it all the time.

I used to play it constantly when I was younger but since the value has picked up on them it spends more time in its case. Maybe sees the light of day once a month or so.

I got to the point where I was enjoying my CIJ Jag more and being able experiment with different parts and pickups was fun for me, and suited the music I was playing. But I think I'll definitely come back round to this again and play it more often. It's awesome !!! I'm in a Nels Cline phase so .... it'd be rude not to.

In some ways, I kinda feel guilty that I don't play out anymore, and I'm not worthy of such an instrument.

Irony is, even if I did I probably still wouldn't take this. Double lol.

Yeah that's an old '59 body I picked up. I am LDC from back in the day. I thought about registering the name in my sig, but figured it would never get approved.

Thanks. Your guitar is pretty much the gold standard for Jazzmasters on the board though.

Mine came with the '59 body and anodized guard that I bought on eBay. The covers aren't vintage. I've seen similar ones all over eBay.

Here is a picture of my Larrivee L-03R after I fitted a Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker. The pickup sounds great and hasn't affected the natural sound of the guitar, I'm really chuffed with this little piece of kit.
