now the swinger is sold but i've some pics ant i can give you some informations.
which details you want to know ?
Yes, that your template. All I really needed was the outline of the body. The guts are all gonna be bronco. I have all the parts already with the exception of neck pup.
this whole 'Aug-is-building-all-yer-shit' thing might work a bit quicker if I had a Bronco and parts, dave.
I'll get parts ASAP sir!

UPDATE!

I'm doing this so that I can fulfill my promise to make a guitar building wiki...dots, this means you!

Here you can see that I've screwed my neck template onto the blank and routed the pocket. Prior to doing this, I laid my body template down to ensure that everything will fit. Once I traced the body temp. on the blank, I lined the NP temp. and routed away.

Here you can clearly see the tracing with pencil. Although a bandsaw would be ideal, I don't have one...so I use a jigsaw. Always cut 1/4" away from the line, as the blade will bend and drift around. Trust me, I had to learn the hard way.

Image

Halfway done with the jigsaw

I needed to be able to screw the template onto the body and since we decided to use the top half of a Bronco pickguard, I traced that onto the template. Note the 1/8" holes and the bevels.

This is pretty self-explanatory:

Note the next bit of pics and remember this at the end of the post. Tearout will royaly screw you up. Do what I do, kids.

See? I did this on the last little run to show you the tearout. It's ok for this guitar, as I've yet to round the edges.

The neck fits perfectly. I am a GOD!

Coming soon: body contours, pup and wiring routes.

To answer Billy's earlier question, yes the Warmoth Swinger body is a 25.5", but its all pretty customizable when you call them, you can just tell them what to leave and leave out, but I knew I wasnt going to have a 22.5" neck around/ready for this project, and i think I actually prefer a larger scale, not necessarily 25.5", a 24" would have been fine, but since they would go ahead and drill the ferules and such for free at the 25.5" length, and since I am short on time, and still new at a good amount of this, I figured it'd be best to continue with the 25.5" scale, I also have a 25.5" Arrow shaped neck already. Which heavily influenced my decision to go ahead with this project.

I still have to get a custom pickguard made for it though, and yeah I still have to get routing templates to do the slanted neck route.

I was at a shop in Harrisonburg, VA yesterday, and the owner had a shit-ton of earlier Fender amps in there that weren't for sale. They also had a Duo-Sonic II that was for sale, but something like $1500. And a modified Cyclone for $399. I saw a Bronco in there last time I was there, but he sold it, I think he wanted $900 for it too for a late 70s one. Anyway that's just for the interest of anyone living close enough to go by and play one if you havent gotten the chance to play one before, I know I certainly hadn't found a duo-sonic II to play before. They also had a lot of the newer Squiers and I must say they are really improving the crap out of them. That Tele SSH is fanastic.

You're currently building a swinger also? You've gotta post pics. What configuration are you gonna use?

Yeah, I mentioned it a long time ago, but it took forever for the body from Warmoth to show up. I'm just sticking with the slanted neck route, I like the look of it, although from Warmoth its already got a slanted bridge route, which will be covered by the pickguard. It also has a rear control route because that's all Warmoth offered as far as control routing. Anyway yeah it'll be forever before I put anything up, I'll absolutely do it though.

So your making a swinger that looks more or less stock, eh? That'd be very cool.

Aug,

I've got more parts for ya. Twang-banger bridge pup and the Alnico 2 pro flat-pole pup for the neck is on its way. The only thing left is ordering the pickguard material and the desert sands paint. I'm super stooked about this project.

dave:

I need the 3 way switch and for you to come over and talk about the routing. I just want for you to see what I've done...I don't want to have to do all this work twice.

Beautiful work, as always. I almost thought I saw chicken wire in one pic. Are you still working in the bunker? That pic made the body look like a Frank Gehry building.

DDDDddadaave, where are you going for Desert Sand?

Aug likes Reranch. It's going to be only a singe stage. I'm going for the vintage looks of the 50's paint jobs. I haven't decided if I was going to try to relic it a bit. I was also thinking about parchment for the pickguard. I believe Stu-Mac has that.

WOW! Looking good. I think I just Nut myself. I guess the next step is more parts and a conversation about the routes.
